I have only wonderful memories

He sits and begs; he gives a paw He is, as you can see, the finest dog you ever saw and he belonged to me. I'll talk to you in the comments. :)

Baby leggings.......unisex

Image
? I think a baby boy could wear these with a diaper. and be dapper. Do you? Can these only be given to a baby girl? I could be on the verge of a real social blunder, so let me know. Save me the embarassment. This is my taking a break from the ruffle project. Leftover yarns. 48 stitches on 1's. Rib the first ten rows. Knit ten rows in the round then change colors. Repeat until you have 7 alternate color sections after the ribbing. Then rib in 2x2 10 more rows. Bind off. Then give them to a baby ..........even if it is a boy..... set me straight here please, if I am wrong. I'll talk to you in the comments. :)

First Friday post of the Day

Image
There are somethings that can be knit, that Fireman doesn't need to know about. He would have me knitting these covers non -stop until all the legs in this house were covered.......... good thing he doesn't read this blog much. Much less ever leave a comment. HA! I'll talk to you in the comments. :)

The bear is a keychain.

This Frugal Hungarian would like to make certain you know that Grace is selling some of her handknit shawls for 85.00 each. These would make ideal gifts for very special occasions. Grace is at Lovingcomfortknits.blogspot.com. She usually comments on my blog, so you can go to her comments and click on her name. Voila! you will be at her site to see the shawls. Have you ever gone to Deesie's blog? Deesie.typepad.com. She is a magnificent knitter. If you are looking for a fine blog to add to your reads, check her's out. Just because I FAV something on Ravelry, doesnt mean I am going to knit it. Often it means I adore it and will never knit it! The cupholder that is made to look like blue jeans and a belt is an example. People are so clever. If you don't do Ravelry, sorry about this comment. I'm being called to make a coffee warmer. I won the Greek Deli coffee kit from Darcy's blog contest. Katherine is making coffee warmers for gifts. I think I need to get

A funny thing happened on the way to the prayer shawl finish

Image
So here is my Hungarian dad's prayer lap shawl. I just used Encore in a foresty green heather. I made up the pattern and kept it simple. Of course. The ribbed row is pretty but it did pull at the sides. I attatched a Holy beading and picture to the YO row in the middle of the shawl. My father and my son and my Fireman and I all placed our hands on it and said a prayer for healing for my dad's back. I got the prayer from the Prayer Shawl book. I made it a short one. My dad cries easily. He does not like to show this to the other xy's in the room. I know he is touched and he loves it because I prayed for him when I made it. The middle child in me thinks I may usurped my sister the favorite, for an evening. How unholy of me. The funny thing that happend was this: As I started the gift I was angry at my father, mildly. We can get on each other's last nerve, as my baby sister says. After I saw the white deer on vacation as I was knitting this, my heart kind of changed. I

Karen's Mitered Sqaures Blanket

Image
Karen is somewhat of a Rapunsal. Everything she knits turns to gold. She says her knitting grounds her, but I think she grounds her knitting. I let mine run me all over the place, and hers is very well behaved. She knits intentionally. When the yarn and the pattern start to get away from me, I just let it. Not Karen. She trains her yarn to listen to her. Just look at the new blanket she is creating. Isn't it a beauty? I'm trying to ground myself. I am listening to the Chanting Monks. I am making sure I try to nap. I think I need a good sit by the campfire tonight. And I need my knitting right now, and I don't mean no ruffles either! Stay tuned for what found me and wants me to knit it........

Dive right in....

Image
Seems we are diving right into many things in life right now! So far, the water is just fine on most accounts. I'm ready to dive into another knit/crochet project. I think I may finish my dad's knit today. Great news, my dad does NOT need surgery for his back. He gets the prayer lap blanket anyhow. I'm also diving into sending Z to college and so far I'm either in denial or perhaps I am really going to do fine. Anyhhow, it is not about me. It is about him, his time, his studies, his not having me cook for him anymore!!!! Al dove right into living in the city and she really loves it. She didn't really dive in, she stepped in and out of the pool of change about a hundred times, but that is her way! And now we cannot get her out of the water! Katherine is diving into Holiday knitting. Hmmmmm, don't think I have a thing knit for holiday gifts yet this year.... Maybe I'll just knit one holiday gift. One very lovely holiday gift. A very lovely flat holid

I'll play what is on your desk

Image
But I am not going to enter the contest . I think it is too late anyhow. I don't really have a desk. But I do have my screened porch table and just ask everybody, if you want to meet me there's where Me and Huck hang out all summer. . Huck likes to get in all the pictures. And why not? Huck is always at my desk, so of course he should be in this description. He is near my father's prayer lap blanket. The one fireman says no self respecting man would use. Never say never baby! I have an abundance of radio waves all around me: My portable firescanner. Yes I am a geek. I need to gauge how tired fireman will be tomorrow and how tired Al will be after her ER shift. and I am nosey. And it is legal. My weather radio. Must have. We are expecting severe weather. I love me a storm. I do move away from the metal table and chair when the lightening alarm goes off. My chocolate knitted cupcake from Grace. Because you know, it is my birthday month! And it is sooooo soft. I squeeze

Sanity in jeopardy....must put shawl down a bit

Image
Here's birthday lily from my sistah. My little sistah. Who is way taller than me. i just love the rescued, armor covered camera.......... Anyhow, I can't take the ruffle anymore. Darned if I didnt' finish the one side this afternoon and it looks amazing. I was hoping it would look wonky and bad and I could rip it out and do fringe. But darn it, it looks wonderful. I dont say that about my knitting much her at IE NOW I HAVE TO KNIT THE OTHER RUFFLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am putting it down for a few days. I don't even want to look at how lovely it is. We all know I am a finisher and this will be finished with a week or so. But not now, not today! I swear in the end I cast off a few thousand stitches.... I'll talk to you in the comments. :)

Things about my Birthday....49 feels just fine!

Image
Warning: Lots of blah blah blah about my birthday. Okay, so just the facts: Grace sent me a a wonderful box. Grace is a bestest pretend friend. Grace included a pretend kitty friend. Al and I are calling him Calvin. He has to live with Al now b/c she cannot have a real live pooping kitty adorable in her new place. She miss her crazy kitties. Lesley left this knitting lamb on my doorstep last night. She is a sneaky one. Please don't ask what yarn Lesleylamb is knitting with. I want to know too. Lesley lamb is a really good listener. I hope I 'll hear her voice soon, but for now she listens. Without any judgement just like Lesley! Some other things about my birthday: There were purple liies and I'll show them soon. THere were peruvian lilies. Woe to the kitty that eats the birthday flowers. There was a CD of my son with all my favorite guitar songs he performed. To ease my missing his playing at home now that he is a college man. There was a book from AL; Good Poems f

2nd Ruffle Syndrome

Image
I've' fallen into Ruffleland and I can't get up! I don't make socks currently because you have to make 2. Feels just like this as I work with the first ruffle. I groan, (as I pray for the recipient), I cannot believe I have to do this again. But you know me. I will finish. I was fighting with the needles and Al saved me. She told me to use 2 size 7 circulars so that I could lessen the tension. So you are looking at the beginning of one needle and the end of another in this image. In my technology corner today........ I used the ring tone on my very own cell phone that is crickets chirping. I love that sound. Well real crickets have been chirping here finallY! Thus when someone calls the phone, I haven't been answeing. Im cricket confused. So I've paid 3.00 and bought a ring tone song. Now I can aggrivate everyone else when it rings out. Which is hardly ever anyhow..... Choices were limited, but I choose Kenny Chesney Out Last Night. What is your ring tone? I&

The winner is and other things

Image
Well the winner of the contest is Tom . But I don't think Tom wants a yarn bag that is blue? Do you Tom? You let me know! More on this later. Congratulations Tom for knowing the Frugal Hungarian's nature! Other things: It's really summer this weekend. HEAT HUMIDITY. and BREEZES that are so appreciated you want to lean back and sigh every time a breeze passes over you. So in keeping with this I am showing you two motorcycle images of this summer. I do not ride a motorcycle but I think it would be so fun. Don't worry, this woman won't even ride in the car without her seatbelt and cannot get on a horse without a panic, so I never will ride a motorcycle. But, they are interesting to me. The little is a Honda from the 60s that a friend finally got around to reviving. I think it is so cute with it's blue color. I could have it for a song. But, that's a lot of yarn....... The other image Zach took with his artistic eye, at a garbage heap we walked p

Photography question

Image
I know you usually come to a blog to get answers. When you come to this one you get questions! Ha ha ha ! Pretend friends rule. Today I have this question: I have too many images on my mac computer. I should save them. What should I save them to? A memory stick would need a lot of memory? Should I buy a bunch of little memory sticks? Should I save them to a disc? All of you who are contest entrants won't have to wait long for the winner announcement. I'll pick soon. The image is of the lap prayer shawl for my dad. Fireman built us a lovely fire pit this week. I wanted to used it as backround before the first fire! Fireman predicts that my dad won't use the lap shawl. He says no self respecting man would use a lap shawl. We'll see who is right! My father is a outdoors, sporting, golfing, man. My Fireman used to think it was odd that I grew up in a house with a rifle cabinet. My mother keeps the house so cold you could hang meat in it on any given day.

Talk to you in the comments Contest

Image
Al and I have been trying to come up with a contest. I am so scattered lately. So, I'm going to ask a bunch of scattered questions. Answer any of them, then I will answer YOU in the comments I promise. I need some distraction my pretend friends, and this will be fun for Al and I . The winner gets this beachy summer blue tyedyed bag. It is perfect for anyknitter. It has a little side zipper on the outside tucked away. It has a little inside zippered pocket as well. I will be putting things in the pirze bag as we go along. Al and I will pick a winner from those who are kind enough to comment. SO here goes: You only have to answer ONE to enter. *What is the last fear you conquered? *What should I ask for knitwise for my upcoming 49th birthday? *How are you at transitions? What helps you make them? Transtition like: your children moving out, your pets being ill, moving to a new neighborhood, seasonal transtions? *What is the worst thing/best you ever knit? *Send me somew

How to knit a badminton net

Image
Not really, but the shawl is getting so long it feels like I am knitting a badminton net. I had no idea how to spell said net, until spell check corrected my version. See I learn things from blogging! Have you played badminton lately? I'm itching to finish the shawl and start something new, or pick up my log cabin again. The shawl is so big I I cannot drag it along with me anywheres anymore. So the goal this week is to get to the finish line....... and come up with a contest b/c I have a lovely prize. I'll talk to you in the comments. :)
