It's a Wrap…Pun Intended

My first Cobweb shawl is off the needles.
It is wet and being blocked right now.

*Loved the pattern.

*Loved the simplicity and ability to watch TV and knit it up.

*I made index cards to follow the rows -

*Loved the cast off: you use a crochet hook and create the edge by crocheting instead of binding off in the traditional fashion.

It is very easy if you know the basics of crocheting.

*There is another edging option that I may use on the next shawl.

*Potato chip knitting again?  Yup.  See the Madelintosh Prairie in Baltic colorway.

*This time I will use a bigger needle to get the desired effect.
I knit the first on the suggested 9's but I'll go up a few ….this time

That's a wrap...

It's really lovely Kathy! I'm very curious about this crochet edging! I've never done anything like that before. I love that baltic yarn are you going to try it again with that yarn? Do you need just one skein? Such a pretty color!
OOh - can't wait to see post-blocking pictures!

follow up to Ellens questions:

Ellen,

I do plan the same pattern with the Baltic yarn color :)

I think I have more than enough yardage.

TO crochet the edge you just chain 6, then pull off 4 stitches from your live needle and chain 1 though all four stitches. You repeat across.
Very fun

I can't wait to see the finished. blocked shawl. I may have to give this a go as I can not seem to be able to do anything intricate at this point in my life. Hugs to you and Happy Weekend,
Meredith

Pretty! Love the new color, too. There's another pattern (The Easy Triangle Shawl) that uses the same cast off. You're right, it's fun and pretty.
