One warm day last week, Al finally wore Play Peekaboo, Joanne Yordanou's pattern from last summers Vogue Knitting.

Michigan Avenue flowers in April. Da Mayor has done a great job with gardens and beauty along the parks. We were on our way to the Body Works exhibit Saturday. Word of advice: I heard many kids under the age of 14 or so, complaining of it being boring. I found it fascinating. How can a tiny little uterus be so much trouble?  

This is Lynn H's fun scarf that she was working on during our nurse knit in. She used Lazy Daisy by Moda-dea purchased at her Hobby Lobby. Very very soft. Very very kid friendly. ******************************************************Speaking of nurses, I'll bet the Oak Forest RN featured in todays Chicago Tribune didn't have time to knit in her record-breaking year of overtime. Apparently she earned 187,000.00 by working OT. Heaven knows she earned every cent of it. ******************************************************Allison was intrigued by a Mobius the other day. She explained it as a High Fashion Babushka. The Hungarian in me, now has to make one!************************************************************************************************************More on the Body Worlds Exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.....still trying to think of a way to tie it to knitting.............

It is this beautiful shawl Connie is almost finished with. It's coming out so enviably! We all just loved it.  

Joan modeled her HEARTLAND sweater for us during knit-up this week. Its Jaeger's pattern. She used VanDyck #128, a wool, acrylic, alpaca blend. THe collar and buttonband in moss are even prettier in person. Joan was worried enough about it, that she had 3 Bags Full do the finishing for her. To her delight, it fits perfectly, in front and back! ......................................................................I am picking up my size 15 needles just as soon as finish procrast.....I mean blogging, and try to finish the knitting.....on my Plymouth pattern. ....................................................................I need some ideas. The worstedweight world is my oyster: I have to choose a yarn for the gorgeous little baby sweater I am making for my little sis' new baby. Any one have any soft favorites to share? Shes a practical kind of machine wash mom. Thanks.

It was a chilly spring day in Chicago, perfect for this really beautiful finished work. ......Our fellow Neonatal Nurses met for KNIT-UP hosted, this time, by Joany B. who just moved to a condo with a breathtaking view of the city and Lake Michigan....from 40 floors up. 

I know its been a snowy weekend for some of you, so here is a little cheer.  

Having a cold has kept many Kleenex in my hands, as well as my knitting needles. Inspired by sockapalooza I knitted the first of a pair of, may I say, darling spring anklet socks. Lynn had given me this fun yarn as a gift. I decided to make the cuff lacey. Closeup later. It was a simple k2p2, rib with a row of k2tog, yo, p2, every 4th row. Thanks to Claire Gregorcyk's simple pattern. Being ill has afforded me luxurious time to knit without the usual family expectations . Everyone around here has been very willing to do for themselves for a few days. Who says children growing up is a sad thing? If you havent read Mason-Dixon this week, you will get a kick out of the fainting goat explanation! 

Progress over Spring Break

Well, we may not have gone to Arizona and I may still be as pale as the day I was born, but I did get a lot of knitting done this past week. I finished the purple tank top (below) which will be featured in the Three Bags Full fashion show April 13th. I also made an astounding amount of progress on my green Lucky sweater. I finished an entire front side in less than a week (on threes!), which is very impressive for me. I am beginning to feel better about being able to finish it now. I am beginning to look into other projects now that this one is (almost) finished. As Mom said below, I am thinking about doing that sweater but the gauge is way off on that yarn and the pattern is more trouble than its worth so now I'm thinking of doing a openwork cardigan out of the same book. Also, I still have to use my beautiful bamboo birthday yarn and make a blanket for my unborn cousin. Decisions, decisions....

A Housewares show Knitting Item

I heard today, on WGN radio, that there is a new remote control. You simply talk to it. For example: "find Paula Deen, or find Chicago Cubs, or fine The Weather Channel, or if you are Al: "Find Lost, Find E.R., Find Best Week Ever." THEN, without putting down your knitting........the channel changes.
Now if they could only make one that says: Find Zach's socks, find the telephone, find library book overdue....and then the screen shows where it is in my house, without even putting down my knitting. Now that's progress.

This is Al's new project consideration. The yarn: Lucido, Lanna Grossa. Looks to me like it has sleeves....I think I'd crochet it, after the ribbing. Al says there is a crochet pattern. .  

Guess who met Paula Deen? Al! Paula is as sweet in person as she is on TV. How does this relate to knitting? Well, when I show up to knit at our next ISCU nurse knit-in this week, I just might have some goodies with me , goodies a la Paula's new cookbook!
