Turkeys in the Summertime

Hi Turkey Vulture.  They are very cool birds if you read about them.  In groups they are called a wake.  Creepy right? But cool. 
All part of the eco system!
They have a fantastic sense of smell which is unique to them as birds. 


Stocking number...I forgot.  No, three. It is number three of my Summer of Christmas stockings. 
You may note that I used greens and an oatmeal so I hope since it is not white, it will felt fine.

You are all so smart. I'd forgotten white resists felting. 

We all know it is so hot out!
Stay cool.
Drink lots of cool drinks. 
If you have no a/c go to a library for awhile.
Take a cool shower. 
Sleep till fall...hahahah

It is soooo hot! Had to walk the dogs early this am to beat the heat. I really cannot complain though, i have worn a sweatshirt several time this summer since moving to Chicago. Todays weather feels like what i left behind in NC, where it lasted for MONTHS!!

We have lots of vultures around here-when we see a group around a roadkill, we call it a convention.....now I will enjoy calling it a wake! lol

Man, you are on a roll with these stockings. I am amazed at how much you've gotten accomplished with these. We leave our blinds all closed to cave up and have the ceiling fans on. Now it's about 5 p.m. PST so I'm going to open up windows and turn on the house fan.

Another cute stocking! Turkey vultures in Illinois? I had no idea. Yesterday was our warm day, but today it's only 60! This has been a weird summer.

I love Turkey Vultures! Meg Swansen posted some photos of them recently - a wake of them in the early morning, all drying their wings (or warming, I am not sure exactly!) But fantastic photo op! Bravo!

Turkey Vultures scare me to death. I know they are harmless but they are creepy looking and when I see them they are usually sitting on something I don't want to see.
Love the latest stocking. How on earth are you getting them done so fast?
Thanks for the kind words about Daddio. He too had a terrible day yesterday. I left the place in tears and have not stopped bawling since. I hate this disease. It's so cruel.

Great stocking! Are just knitting, and knitting and not doing anything else? I'm impressed. Turkey vultures. Didn't know a group was called a wake and I just plain don't like them. :-)

wait, white resists felting?! I didn't know that! I don't felt very often, but still. That turkey vulture is pretty cute. But only when I don't think about what they eat.

You are on a roll! Didn't know that about white...explains why my white wool beret didn't felt, that plus I have a front loader washing machine and that doesn't work so well, either. Ah, live and learn!

Dear buddy nurse and spay neuter pal Linda, came to visit yesterday.  We knitted. We laughed.  We shared books we are reading. She Showed me her scarf.  It looks like a shawl but it is a scarf. Here is her yarn choice. And the( OUCH) price.   It makes her happy to knit.  If Linda's happy I'm happy.  I dont' know the pattern and neither does she.  Her dog literally shredded her pattern.  She was at a point where she had memorized the easy part and she's nearly finished.  So there you go, anyone know the pattern? Every Once in a While I Might Post

 Is that vague enough for you?  It has been a too busy complicated Spring.  I had no energy to blog.  All is well now, so I can share some things with you:   1. When I shoot photos of the moon I think of Dear Teresa.  Gone too soon. She took fabulous moon pictures.  2. I did not see one shooting star last night.  I only got up for a few moments around 3 a.m.  The local weather guy said he saw a few quick faint ones.   3. How can I can have one grown child in Oklahoma under flood watch, and One Child in Mexico under hurricane watch?  On the same day.  Tis true.  4. What have I knitted lately?  I am pretty sure I've ripped more than I've knit.  I ripped out a shawl that I was making up.  It was cotton and pretty.  I need to follow a pattern.  5. I was trying to make socks and decided to make mittens instead.  I haven't worked a thumb in a long time.  I may have to frog it too.  So I have been knitting, but not making things.  6.
