Hurry Up and Finish!

I have this lovely chunky Madelinetosh waiting for me!
I'm planning another biggy shawl. The Flame Out pattern caught my eye over the weekend.

But first, I have to finish my goldfish in the water socks.
These have been fun.
Guesset, foot and toe to go!

Standing for long 12 hour shifts as a nurse led to foot and leg fatigue.  I have had some pain in my legs and had a doppler of my veins done this  morning.  Things look pretty good, but I'm waiting for the doc to call.  The tech did tell my I had very small veins.

I was bad.  I rarely wore support hose.  The vascular doc already told me I have to go get the big GUNS of support hose at a medical supply store.  She was realistic and said she knew I wouldn't wear them in the Chicago summer.  If I go for a long car trip or plane ride they've got to be on, however.

Anyone else in this situation? Would like to hear your story.

The little goldfish socks are cute.

Hope all works out with the leg doc.

Doppler can be used as a diagnostic tool? You DO learn something new every day.

Still loving the goldfish colors.

You're going to have fun wearing those socks. I can't stand or walk a long time or my ankles and feet swell up. Especially in the heat on vacation. Sux getting old. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I wore compression socks on a long plane trip to Hawaii, and I'm glad I did. The hardest part is putting the dang things ON!

The socks are looking good and will be finished in no time at all.

I have DVT. I wear compression stockings every day of my life. I want to walk. I agree it does get hot and humid around here but trust me the alternative is something I do not want to think about. I wear the 30- 40 weight compression (for severe thrombosis). I am going to have the yearly doppler done next week. I purchase my stockings on line. There is a medical supply store in Mt Prospect on 14 that carries them but they are not an inexpensive item.

Love Madelinetosh yarn.

I am so sorry to hear that. I don't know how I escaped those issues being on my feet on cement floors all day when I taught. I did end up with teacher bladder though. Boooo.

Yes, I had to wear one stocking after an injury; it is a bit warm (lol) but you do what you have to do! Under a pair of light linen pants, it will be fine!
I had to wear them once after a surgery and I wasn't amused.

Oh I love the socks!

My husband wears compression socks all of the time. I wear them if I'm working out, or will be on my feet for longer periods than usual. We both have the kind that are just on your leg though, not a full sock.

Lovely projects you have going. I love the bright colors of the socks. I have foot and leg problems too and have found that acupuncture really helps with the fatigue. Our son had to wear compressions socks on his plane ride home to Tokyo yesterday after his foot surgery last week. He said it all worked out fine! Yeah! I hope you get some good news from your tests.
Blessings,
Betsy

I'm sorry those leg pains are still around even though you are retired. I'm curious about compression socks. My right calf has bugged me on and off after that one weekend of exercise DVDs at home. Wednesday it seized up on me and I had to limp home so no running for a week. I probably haven't been stretching out my calves well as they usually only get one measly stretch. I need to do some research. LOVE that skein of Madtosh. It's gorgeous.

My husband has had three blood clots in his legs that went right to his lungs, he did not wear hose for years and then developed more problems. He wear them now!
Hugs,
Meredith
