Foggy in More Ways that ONE!

 Foggy foggy this morning here.
Fog is often tough for me to capture, but this photo from my phone isn't all bad!

I took it on my way to the shelter to help in the OR.

So,  one of the bloggers (? can't remember who) wants us to tell a story a day and be observant about our day.

Here goes: Last week I was so overwhelmed at Spay Nueter.
I took a dog out to go potty before her surgery and somehow she got loose from the collar.
We are on a busy busy 4 lane major roadway.

I was hysterical.
This little black thing ran straight into the road.
I called for the vet who was inside and would not have heard me in a million years. We were the only ones there at the time.

The dog was headed for the woods across the street.
Cars were coming.
I stopped.  I tried to recall all my fabulous dog trainer had taught me years ago.

I called her so cheerfully.
I ran backwards to see if she would want to chase me.
I called again.
A big white Yukon truck was barrelling down on the road.

Suddenly, she stopped, and ran right to me.

Oh my God.  I was so relieved, overwhelmed by what COULD have happened.

I went inside and told the Vet I lost 10 years off my life just then.

She was supportive and wonderful.
I got to working in the OR and did my job.
BUT, I cried all the way home from the shelter.
What if?
Oh dear?
All the what ifs?

I was so blessed little black dog came running back to me.
In the nick of time.
I keep her picture on my lap top to remember how lucky I am.

OH yeah, here's the hat I'm making.

Oh my gosh! SO scary! Giroux got away from us once by slipping out of his halter. I swear my life AND his flashed before my eyes.

Glad you got your little pup back safe and sound.

I'm so glad she listened to you. What a scare for you. *hug* I would have gone home and thrown back a shot of tequila. I need to retry that hat pattern. My gauge was off so it came out too small.

EEK.. I've had the same thing happen with my own dog.. dang Cairn Terrier's cannot be trusted off-leash. He runs right into the road and we have a busy country road that people fly by.. I've been out there in the middle of the road trying to stop traffic only to have them race around me and I see my dog shooting in front of them.. I'm so glad you got them back. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Such close calls always flood my soul with gratitude!
Fun hat-are you liking it from a knitting point of view?

I am so glad that the story ended the way it did. We are very lucky that we have a dog that rarely leaves our side. I would have been hysterical if that had been me. You must be a dog whisperer. :-). Also, that is a very cute hat that your're making.
Blessings,
Betsy
Yikes! That's enough to give a person flash backs for a while! So glad the little fellow came back. I made that hat and love it. It's a fun knit and a really nice hat!

Oh poor Kathy! Oh poor little black puppy! That would give me nightmares. I worry so much about Macy or Max dashing out the front door when someone comes that I keep a baby gate in the entrance to stop them before they can get to the door. Max would come back when called but Macy is a typical Jack Russell and runs like the wind.

I love the hat you are knitting. Are you making it in the same color?
