Kathy B's Monday Meme April 4th

Today is Monday Meme day.
Please enjoy and play along if you wish.

*Do you Listen to  or watch any Knit Podcasts?

*Do you purchase pattern books now that you have Ravelry?

*Do you have a photo of yourself knitting?

*Do you have a photo of a relative who has passed knitting or crocheting?

*What is your favorite two color combination?

*Have you ever had an injury that prevented you from knitting?

*Do you know a man who loves to knit?

*Have you ever been asked to knit something for pay?

*Have you knit with Quivet?

*Do you play the lottery and would you giveaway
yarns if you won?

My answers:

1. I love Wooly Cakes and Wooden Spoons podcasts.
I like the Grocery girls too.
I like a podcast to be about 20 minutes to a half an hour.

2. I really don't pay for a whole pattern book because of Ravelry.
Sorry book authors....

3. I have an ugly photo of me knitting from 10 years ago.
I think it is time for a photo shoot with the needles! haha

4.  I have no such photos. I am told I had a Hungarian great grandfather who knit past his hundreth birthday.
The favorite sister in my family of origin was given a sweater that my father's mother made.
She doesn't even knit.

5. My current favorite two color combo is yellow and blue.  Alas I cant find any sock yarn in this favorite...but I plan to!

6.I injured my right forearm at work once when a door slammed into me as I was akwardly bagging an infant through the isolette windows coming back from the OR.
It made me really cranky pants not to knit for over a month.
Due to this, I carefully select my extra curriculars.
(I wont lift weights because I dont want to hurt my knitting arm..and because I never want to lift weights!)
I only bobber fish because I dont want to cast and reel for hours and hurt my arm.
I always have them take blood for donation from my left arm...I think I'm paranoid!)

7.  Sadly, I don't personally know a man who knits.
I see the same man every year at the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool festival knitting socks at the Crook and Whistle competition.
Maybe next year I'll sit next to him and knit socks too

8. No. But Allison has been paid to knit a baby dress once.

9. I would love to try Quivet.

10.  Yes.  If I won the lottery I'd give away a lot of yarn to my blog pals!!!  Oh would that be fun.  I'd spend the money in a mix of independent dyers and Lorna's Laces etc.
I'd spend a week boxing and mailing surprises out to you all!

Off to buy a lottery ticket!

Answers are on my blog.

I once told my personal trainer that I wouldn't do any exercise that compromised my wrists! I was NOT going to NOT be able to knit. LOL

*Do you Listen to or watch any Knit Podcasts? I have recently discovered knitting podcasts and could become addicted to them. Legacy Knitz is a favorite. Also the Grocery Girls

*Do you purchase pattern books now that you have Ravelry? Nope. Not when Ravelry is full of freebies. Sorry.

*Do you have a photo of yourself knitting? My daughter has lots of them.

*Do you have a photo of a relative who has passed knitting or crocheting? No, it my Grandma is the one who taught me to crochet, beginning my love of yarn.

*What is your favorite two color combination? Purple and cream

*Have you ever had an injury that prevented you from knitting? Just an IV while in the hospital

*Do you know a man who loves to knit? No

*Have you ever been asked to knit something for pay? Yes, many times.

*Have you knit with Quivet? At a knitting group I used to attend, one of the ladies gave us each a very small amount she had bought while in Alaska. It's like knitting air!

*Do you play the lottery and would you giveaway yarns if you won? I don't play the lottery, but if I did I would most definitely share the yarn!

Blessings,
Betsy
Yes, I watch podcasts - listening to Legacy Knits right now. Love the Grocery Girls and Knitting Expat.

No, I don't have any patterns that I have on ravelry

No, no photos of knitting - because I can't! - or of me crocheting. No photos of other family either.

Fave colour combo would be blue and white I think.

No knitting - or crochet - injuries, but I have had a tapestry injury - callouses on my fingers!

No, no male yarny people as far as I know!

Yes, I have crocheted for money, and I will be doing more - I hope!

No idea what quivet is - can you tell us?

If I did the lottery and had a win, I would definitely buy you yarn!

Great answers from you!

xx

1. I listen to Yarnspinner's Tales and the Knitmore Girls from time to time. I used to listen to lots all the time. I need to get back to that.
2. I'll have bought Alice Starmore and Jared Flood. Sometimes I do want the total package a book will give you.
3. Yes, I'm always asking The Mister to take pictures of me knitting when we are in weird places.
4. No. I come from a family of quilters. I am the only knitter I know of.
5. I am no good with colors, combos or otherwise. I like them all. Rainbow is my favorite color. Daughter is lucky I didn't name her that.
6. My thumb last year did me in for 6 months. I could knit but it was NOT fun.
7. Nope. I wish I did. I tried to teach Daddio once. He always wanted to learn.
8. Hmmmm....I don't think so. If people ask I say no and offer to do it for free. Like the soap, once you take money, it's not your hobby anymore and it's too much pressure to make others happy. I only want to make ME happy when I create.
9 I want to spin it but I would need to win the lottery first.
10. I would give away all my present stash for sure. I love making little packages for people so I would be making soap and buying whatknots for everyone to my heart's content. If only.....

Do you Listen to or watch any Knit Podcasts? No knitting podcasts, but I do enjoy listening to Serial and Somebody Kniws Something.

*Do you have a photo of yourself knitting? Only one, and I hate it.

*Do you have a photo of a relative who has passed knitting or crocheting? No

*What is your favorite two color combination? Anything with blue and grey

*Have you ever had an injury that prevented you from knitting? No

*Do you know a man who loves to knit? No

*Have you ever been asked to knit something for pay? No

*Have you knit with Quivet? No

*Do you play the lottery and would you giveaway yarns if you won? I don't play and don't intend to start, but giving away yarn is something I enjoy doing, especially in swaps.

Aww! Merci beaucoup ┏(^0^)┛┗(^0^) ┓ for mentioning my podcast. I am very honored!

1. Knitting podcasts have been my knitting accompaniment of late.

2. Some of the books I have in my stash I wish I didn't have and a few only do I love and feel they're really good purchases. The only eBooks I've purchased are ones I believe in. But yeah, there is always a new, great pattern coming out, etc.

3. I've participated in KIP week a few times and have photos of me knitting out and about w/the ohana in SF.

4. I only have a picture of my PauPau's hands knitting.

5. I do like a color paired with grey. I usually try to contrast a light and dark together for visual punch.

6. Hmmm, I may have tweaked my left thumb after one, Christmas of knitting b/c it was too intense and had to rest it for a while.

7. I don't personally know a man who loves to knit. I do watch Eric of Sticks + Twine.

8. Yes, I've knitted a trio of beanies for a small family and a Christmas beanie for a teacher's wife. But while I was touched to be asked, it was stressful for me and wasn't tons of fun.

9. No quivet yet! I so want to buy some but at STITCHES West, that would be all of my cash.

10. I would have giveaways definitely.
