More Virginia Photos and Stories

We'll start with dogs and end with dogs today.
Sissy and Gretchen came to visit us.  This was really special because I didn't  get to meet the fur babies last year.
Sissy and Pie share eye issues so we have a special bond.
The pups came all the way to Shadwells just to meet us in the parking lot.  Then they settled back into their van while we wined and dined.
This is one of their sides.......
I was all excited to see them and it was hard to get a picture of their sweet faces because I was busy petting them when they were facing  me.
Yes, Sissy has a spot of color on her back that is a paw print  !

Thomas Jefferson founded the University of Virginia and it is a Colonial Architectural masterpiece.  I was a student at Miami of Ohio for two years and our campus was lovely and similar.
Since we went to Monticello last year, we focused on new things this trip.
The town is full of great places to eat and they are unique.
We ate at Continental Divide on Sunday night and had nachos with goat cheese for starters...mmmmm.
Sunday was for the vineyards and Monday was about the Mountains.  We had a beautiful day riding in and out of the intense dense fog.  We would go from pea soup,
then head over a mountain where the view was
clear and colorful with fall leaves.
Fireman and I drove from C'ville to Washington DC for flight reasons.  On our way our flight got delayed so we found a yarn shop!

DogHouse Yarns is a delight.
Jan was knitting squares for Wounded Veterans in the back room.

The shops former owner passed away and another lovely woman bought the shop.  In Roseann's honor, they have a beautiful
shop pattern for this shawl.  It is blocks pieced together, followed by stitches that are picked up and finally a paw print border knit around.

The dog and cat lover in me may have to make this wonderful wrap.

And that's a wrap for today at Irisheyes...
and its raining cats and dogs to boot!

Don't you just love winging it sometimes on a trip! The yarn shop would entice me, too.

Sissy and Gretchen seem to be focused on something in the distance

Virginia is a beautiful state in the fall. Nothing like fog to give that eerie October feeling. That shawl is gorgeous!

Hahaha... I didn't notice the girls' rears as much as I did your rare, Knight sighting documented!!

I haven't been to the shop since the Saturday before Rosanne died. I want to knit that wrap though. Its designer truly captured a bit of Rosanne in the shawl.
