What's In Your Bag?
Miss Pie loves to climb into my knitting bag. She is still quite petite. She is just 5 pounds at one year of age. She knows two tricks.
She can beg for a treat, or Sit Pretty as I say.
She can jump through a hoop.
She exhausted herself on the porch last week when the weather was warm. The squirrels that hang out in the tree just outside the screen captivated her.
Zach and I laughed as she tried to fight off sleep later in the day. She is still a baby...
Also in my knitting bag are my new yarns. The icy green is Berocco Folio and the multi is Jawoll magic.
These are the makings of the Garter Trap Shawl.
I've been disappointed with Jawoll before as I knit up a hat with it. However, I've seen how it behaves in this pattern and it promises to be a different story.
There is a movement to eradicate plastic shopping bags altogether in Chicago. They do seem to litter the streets and highways here. I love a good old paper bag best.
Feel free to chime in here at BAG TALK :)

In my sort of small town, we have banned plastic bags. It works fine (you can pay for a paper bag). It is a bit of a pain at places like Target. However, there is another sort of small town right next door that does not have the ban...so I go to that Target. And reuse the bags! Probably tmi!
I can't say that I've opened my bag to anything more than the usual knitting stuff.
I love the Jawoll Magic! You are knitting with my favorite colors.
I love the colors of the yarn you picked. I can't wait on your follow up Jawoll report.
In San Francisco we have done away with plastic bags too. No stores carry them. If you need a bag, there is a 10 cent fee. So most of us always have reusable bags in our cars or in my case I have the small cloth ones I can throw in my purse / knitting bag. I'll still buy paper bags every now and again, but I reuse them for my composting so I don't feel too wasteful. It wasn't difficult for us since we were already using reusable bags when they put it in effect. I like the canvas bags best because I feel like I can chuck them in the washing machine if I have any unsavory bacteria that leaked, esp. as a meat eater.
I use canvas bags for grocery shopping and have for nearly 30 years. Plastic bags from other stores seem to multiple in my house even though I take them to the recycle bins in stores.
I love paper bags because my parrot recycles them for me. She loves to shred them into mulch. It's her favorite game.
I have numerous cloth bags to use for shopping and too often forget to take one into a store, but am trying to retrain myself. I like to use paper bags sometimes and try to reuse plastic bags in our garbage cans.
I love that she knows a few tricks and remains curious. She has to be an absolute delight.
Saaaayyy, those are some nice yarns. I'm anxious to see what this new project will look like...
Bags. I wish we would get rid of them here too, as they become a huge litter problem. I like the canvas/cloth bags for grocery shopping. But I like a good ol' paper sack too.
Hugs,
Meredith
And I think it's funny how paper bags are kind of making a comeback. Its all we used when growing up. I actually liked it when they put the paper bad inside the plastic one. Sturdy and easy to carry. I recycle both. Most bags are cheap, but I do love me some Target bags!! Those get used for so many other things!
