There's NO Place Like Home

I like to knit while I am at 30,000 feet.

Lake Michigan looks extra brutal covered in ice and snow from the air….

This is going to sound silly, but
I love our tap water.  When we travel, even to northern Wisconsin, I can taste the difference.   We have great Lake Michigan water and we have an abundant supply.

I love our local weather news, too.  Our weatherman Tom Skilling, gives in depth lengthy  forecasts.  He talks isobars and history.  You either like it or you don't.

Of course, I missed the cats while we were away.
I play with their paws while they sit with me at night.
They have the softest pads.

What do you miss when you are away from home?

'(For those of you who have asked:
the yarn is simply Plymouth Yarn
Encore Color
Worsted acrylic/wool
in color7145.

Also Tom Skilling is short and bald and the sweetest kind of TV personality.  I have it on good  authority from someone who lives in his building….he's just as nice in person!)

Kathy - I hear you. I love to travel and see new things, try new foods, have new experiences. But my favorite part of any vacation is coming home and sleeping in my very own bed. It's heaven on earth.
Oh I love the picture of the ice on the lake. So pretty.

I have only seen the law once, we traveled to Holland, MI to see the tulips while they were in bloom...it was still chilly as we walked towards the light house. We sat on the lake for a little while, but not long, but it was really pretty.

Oh what'cha making in the first photo? I love that yarn.

Wishing you a most lovely day. :)

Skilling makes it like it is the most fascinating information. My husband and I watch the 5 pm news just for him.

I love to go on trips, but honestly I miss my morning routine when I'm gone - lounging, reading blogs, and sipping tea in my PJs.

Whatever you were making up in the air is sure a great color! We miss our water, too, and our bed.

I love the purples. Knitting is the only way to fly! When I leave home I miss my Sleep Number bed. We found a one hotel in Florida that has them and we always stay there but they still don't feel like our own bed!

That's a pretty hat!! Love the colors...so cheerful.

What a great picture taken over lake Michigan. Wow.

I like coming home from a vacation just as much as the vacation! I miss my routines and sleeping in my own bed too.
The lake looks so cool. We are on Lake Ontario - it doesn't have that much ice - though it's much more than it's had in many, many years!

I was totally going to ask what that yarn was! It's so pretty. I LOVE to knit on the plane. It gives me great joy. I love our local tap water too! The Hetch Hetchy special. I used to love Spencer Christianson for local weather, my husband used to wait on him in the olden days. But I dont like the rest of the local news he's on, so I haven't "seen" him for a while.

I always think I'm going to knit on the plane, but I almost NEVER do.

What do I miss while I'm away? My stuff. The project I want to do is always at home. The one I have with my I really don't feel like working on. (I guess I'm fickle like a cat. LOL)

Ohhhh, thanks for sharing the view of Lake M, Kathy! So beautiful!!! I very much admire your knitting skill...in the air or down on the ground :) My favorite part of coming home is being quieter...less chatty than I am when I am out and about and visiting.

Wow....that view from the plane is spectacular.
What do I miss? Everything. I hate traveling. I get homesick before we leave the driveway.

I miss my Sleep Number bed and MY pillow that smushes just right for sleeping. Wonderful photo of the lake!

I'm a total water snob - I think our Little Rock water is the best, to the point that I take some with me when we go out of town.

I don't drink unbottled water when I travel. It's the downside of being married to a man whose business is to purify water. The dear Knight just installed a charcoal filter at work to take care of the chlorinated city water.

I miss my Sleep Number bed too, but I especially miss little Gg, who does in fact sleep under the covers, pressed up against me.

I miss giving Sissy her eye-drops. The Knight does it well, but...

I miss running/walking with the furgirls too, and I suppose this comment is long enough!

I like my own toilet paper. If I'm staying in a hotel, they don't have my awesome toilet paper.
