Mask erading….as an Irish Hungarian

Fireman laughed as I finished my headband last night.  Wearing a mask alleviated all my symptoms of stuffy nose and fibers in my nose... as I knit.

So glad I reworked this yarn into a useable head band.

Simply:

Cast on 23 stitches on size 7 needles.

Work 5knit 2 pearl ribbing for
8 inches.  You are trying to make it tight so the yarn will give in time and continue to have a snug fit.

Bind off, sew seam..enjoy.

Sometimes you do what you gotta do to to finish the knit plan.

It is Abe Lincoln's birthday and my Irish Grandfather's too.  John P. McCormack, County Mayo Ireland.  He had no enemies everyone always said.   I remember two things about him only.  I was very small when he passed away.

If we skinned our knees, he'd say in his brogue: It'll be gone by the time yer married

and

he'd sit me on his lap, draw a line down his chest with his finger and tell me half of him was the devil and half of him was an angel….

County Mayo…God Help Us.

LOL! You gotta do whatcha gotta do to knit up that yarn! It turned into a very nice headband! And the color is so feminine and soft! By the way, your haircut is great!

I think your grandfather would have been very entertaining to be around!

I love it!

It sounds like your grandfather was a fun-loving man. I be the had a twinkle in his eyes, too.

Your headband looks so snuggly warm. I admit, the mask looks a bit funny, but a knitter's gotta do what a knitter's gotta do, right?

Oh ...looking up at Nancy Kay's comment, I see we are thinking the same way.

I had a Scottish/Canadian grandfather that said some of the funniest things.

Great headband, Kathy! It looks really nice with your hair, too. I hear that warm and cozy items are in these chilly Chicago days. DD says her kids are suffering from cabin fever! Stay warm.

I've done the mask thing before when I play with fibers. It may look funny but it works. I love your hair. It's just perfect for fancy headbands and cute little hats.
Your grandfather sounds like a real gem. Oddly enough, I never had a grandfather. They were all gone before I was born.

Love the picture of you with the mask, sometimes you just have to do what is necessary to get the job done.

that is hard core knitting love! I am allergic to angora yarn, never ever thought to wear a mask :) Great idea!!

Love the hair!! I need to find my other double-knit headband in progress and finish it up.

You are too cute. I think if I had to wear a mask to knit, it wouldn't happen.

My mother's father was rumored to be 1st gen. American on one side but his parents were from Scotland. Bet to my ears, the brogues aren't so different...
