Nothing but Fun Here at Irisheyes Halloween Time

Ahhhh yes, we are having fun even in the nurses' lounge these days.
 Halloween is so silly and fun.  

Zach told his students the legend of La Llorana, A mexican 
ghost story.  It is pretty nasty;  La Llorana,
(the crying woman) drowns her kids because of a love 
lost and then she drowns herself.  They say she comes back as a ghost near streams and ponds.  (They tell this story to keep kids from going near streams and rivers..)
The verb Llorar means to CRY. Hence La Llorana.

Our neighborhood is lots of fun after dark as well. 

Fireman heard an owl hooting last weekend while I was at work.
That's cool too!  

As for the knit world, I'm back to the Skydive stole/scarf
(Im looking for a vest pattern......anyone have a pullover vest they love?)

Here's to the annual viewing of Young Frankenstein....
Does your town have a spooky legend?  I could tell a story of a woman who never finished her  knitting and roams knit shops looking for the last ball of yarn she needs.....

No local legends but our house in Chicago had a friendly ghost. It wasn't a scary house but we camped out in an R.V. away from home on Halloween because it was not something we wanted to deal with.

I don't know of any spooky stories relating to Orlando, but my hometown of Philadelphia sure has plenty to make up for it.

The big thing at Halloween is to go to Eastern State Penitentary in north east Philadelphia. They really put on a haunted "house".

My sister used to live in a haunted house in Birmingham Michigan. When a male was over during the evening, the next morning my sister and her roommates would find a teacup and saucer on the floor, with the cup on the saucer, not broken. Spooky isn't it?

We have the house of Dr Mudd in nearby Waldorf. He was wrongly accused in the death of Lincoln and his house is supposedly haunted. I have been to Point Lookout which is a civil war mass grave that people say is also haunted but I wouldn't know because I am scared to death of such things and avoid stuff like that at all costs.

My idea of a scary movie is Hocus Pocus.

There are lots of ghost stories around the white mountains! I bought a little book on some of them. The mountain I climbed a few weeks ago, Chocoura, was cursed by an indian chief whose son had died (accidentally) while playing with a pastor's son. :O

Oh, yes! I grew up with the La Llorona story. We were told that one, so us rotten kids would go to bed.

Lots of local legends here... including the one about my father haunting our firehouse. He loves to play pranks with a particular bay door, so I'm told.

 Is that vague enough for you?  It has been a too busy complicated Spring.  I had no energy to blog.  All is well now, so I can share some things with you:   1. Dear buddy nurse and spay neuter pal Linda, came to visit yesterday.  We knitted. We laughed.  We shared books we are reading. She Showed me her scarf.  It looks like a shawl but it is a scarf. Here is her yarn choice. And the( OUCH) price.   It makes her happy to knit.  If Linda's happy I'm happy.  I dont' know the pattern and neither does she.  Her dog literally shredded her pattern.  She was at a point where she had memorized the easy part and she's nearly finished.  So there you go, anyone know the pattern? You are all so sweet about the move and the house.
