Still Still Still

This heron was blending in beautifully when we spotted him  yesterday.  They are easily the largest birds in this area.
The smallest bird, a hummingbird!, flew to our feeder at 7pm last night.  We are thrilled.  We are hoping to keep a few all summer long instead of just spotting the migrating hummies in September.
I changed up my knitting; the poncho really hurts my hands with its double strands of yarn.  These are a child's fingerless mitts.  I read on Ravelry about someone who liked to suck his thumb, and hated mittens because of it.

Hence the invention of the child's finger free, thumb sucking, mitts.  Really, we knitters, we think of everything!

Still waiting on my Knitpicks yarn....
Still coughing a bit, but I'm much better
Still not drinking any Coke

and you?

The Glen a nice place to knit and walk. My husband and I will go for a walk around the lake every now and again. It is just that the construction in either direction on Willow is not really conducive to doing so.

Great pictures.

Looks like a great place to wander, to ponder, and to knit.

Still... struggling to get back to posting on my blog; still busy trying to finish the hemming on my Farmer's Wife quilt; still busy trying to plan and prepare for quilt retreat in a few weeks... yikes! Better kick this one up a notch!

Love the heron pics!

Sounds like you are being a good girl...staying away from the Coke. Hang in there...keep those hands busy with the knitting needles!!Ha. The nature pictures are beautiful!

Congratulations on the hummingbird visit! I hope you get bunches of them. We have them looking in the window at us at breakfast. We can't get the "juice" out to them fast enough, the little piggies!!

I love the idea of fingerless mitts for kids. I will have to think about adding a few pairs to my Christmas mitt collection. I'm at 8 pairs and knitting.

Congrats on your coca cola free journey. Keep it up! I'm glad you got the hummingbird feeder up. I remember you being excited for that. And I like the yarn for the fingerless mitts. I forgot, who/what is the poncho for? Take care of your hands!

We have blue herons here, I love them, so majestic. I am waiting out this thunderstorm before I go to a friends jewelery party, I don't wear much jewelery but I have to go.
Hugs,
Meredith

I didn't know herons went that far north, but apparently they do. We have them all over down here.

The mitts are adorable.

Congrats on the no Coke. Is it getting easier?

Those mitts are lovely.
I'm stuck inside looking out because the mosquitoes have returned along with my miserable allergy to their bites. I am also sad to say I found the first fleas on the little white doggie this afternoon-so the cats must be infested. AND I found a moth in the sewing room so I spent the day bagging up anything wooly. I guess I can say I am pretty bugged. I spend all winter waiting for summer and I actually hate it.

That comment from Debbie is actually from me. I was signed into another account before I realized it.

I'm impressed abt the coke!!! Very hard for me to give up soda. I've cut back on teh Diet Coke for regular coke which I cant drink as much of.

Gorgeous surroundings! Yes still and quiet. Is it hot or just warm with a nice breeze? I need the full mental image you know! LOL

And I like your fingerless mitts. What yarn are you using? It looks like some col

Love herons. My father's middle name was Heron, so I've always felt a connection.

"Still Still Still" is a lovely song, one of my favorite carols. :) And these are lovely photos to go with it.

Enjoy the mitts! They're a fun, quick knit.
