Saturday June 8th Achoooooo

Given the fact that I have come down with a head cold, which co-incided with my week off of work, (dang dang dang it!) I did not have the confidence to cast on anew last night.

You have all been so wise about the joys of not knitting monogamously.  Thanks to you, I had the baby poncho sitting there just waiting for me to carry on with it .  The increases are overwith and now I shall knit in the round until the bottom border.

I try not to let colds get me down.  I figure we all get about 3 a year. If we live to be a hundred we spend nearly a year of our lives blowing our noses.  Cure for the common cold......wouldn't that be awesome?

What's your cure for the common cold ?

Since I started taking vitamin C (1000 mgs every day faithfully) I have not had a cold at all. That was 2 years ago!

You get a poor baby for that!! So sorry you have to spend the week with the sniffles but at least you have that wonderful poncho in that great color to knit. Hope it helps to keep your mind off of how lousy you feel!

When I have a cold, and knock on wood I haven't had one for over a year, I usually take vitamin C and maybe use a zinc lozenge or two when it gets really bad.

I like Advil cold and sinus.
I take a zinc tablet daily any way.

Until yesterday it wasn't all that wonderful around here either. It is beautiful out so perhaps sitting in the fresh air will help.

Sorry that you caught a cold bug. Hope you feel well soon.

I rarely get colds, but despite multiple medications, I continue to sniffle with allergies.

I'm very fortunate. I rarely get a cold. I think I've had only one or two in the last 7 years.

Awww...hope you feel better. I never try to cure my colds. I look at them as nature's way to get me to slow down and take care of me for a change. I climb in bed with a big box of tissues plus some good things to watch and read. Then I give myself plenty of lovely hot soup and TLC. Even when I was teaching I enjoyed a nice head cold because the kids always acted better when I wasn't feeling well.

I rarely get them. It's one of the benefits of living in the middle of nowhere. Not much contact with crowds. But I do use a simple saline nasal spray to that can actually ward off an on coming cold.

Oh no! A cold while on vacation... Boo! I always try to sleep a lot when I feel a cold coming on, it seems to make it less severe.

No cure, but zinc gluconate glycine lozenges really do lessen the severity if you can catch the cold in the first day or so (and can find the lozenges).

Failing that, I use Vitamin C and Zinc, which seem to shorten the misery. I know several people who swear by Vitamin D (anywhere from 2000-10000 mg daily) to make a cold go away in a hurry.

Lots of hot tea is a must. :) And I like hot chicken stock (preferably homemade) with fresh garlic grated in and a bit of cayenne sprinkled on top. Very soothing.

Hope you feel better soon!
