Proud and Priveledged

Zach graduated today- DePaul University's  Class of 2013.  He graduated with honors and we're proud.

We were privileged to have Carlotta Walls LaNier as our Commencement Speaker and Honorary Degree Recipient.  Carlotta is one of the Little Rock Nine.

Hearing her speak of the hatred she endured while going to school in Arkansas, and the way it changed her ordinary life, was empowering.

We were thrilled when she took the podium.

We are also thrilled for Al.
Allison also graduated today with her Bachelor's completion.  She is an RN BSN now!!!!!!   Al took a different path than many of her local classmates;  She  followed her heart and she's happy for it.  It was not easy to keep going while she worked night shifts and was exhausted, but she got her bachelors degree from University of Illinois.  She also graduated nursing school with honors.

So we are very proud here at Irisheyes today.  On our way home on the expressway we saw a boat being towed and it was named
Irish AYES

as in pirate ayes, I suppose!

ON a knit note, I did knit while we waited for the ceremonies to begin.  I also hope, that now that Al is free of schoolwork she has time to knit again....

Im proud to be their mom and I'm privileged to have them in my life as adults.

Congrats to Zach and Al. And, congrats to you for raising such great kids! I know you are a proud mama.

Irish Ayes sounds like a great name for a boat.

Congratulations to both Al and Zach!! You have a right to be proud to be the mother of two fine, intelligent, hard working young people, and they are very blessed to have you and Troy as Mom and Dad!!

What a wonderful, exciting weekend. Enjoy and celebrate.

Also, happy Father's Day to the father of the graduates!

We live in Little Rock and drive by Central High School often. It's worth a visit if you're ever in our "neighborhood". Oh, and congrats on the graduates. Woo hoo!
