Meet Lucy Lou

 It is that time of year again...Kitten season is upon us. 
Seems folks still aren't getting their cats spayed and neutered...
Meet Lucy Lou.  She's my new houseguest. 
She hasn't stopped purring since we brought her home yesterday.
We have already bonded...
What's your guess?  How many kittens are in that enormous belly? and when will she deliver them? 
I can see them moving under her skin.
She hasn't eaten more than a morsel since she arrived, either...
sometimes that means labor will start soon....


While we wait for kittens, I'm winding yarn for the Blanket. 
Maybe someone should boil some water.....

Oh My! She doesn't look like my Lucy Lou at all! What a pretty kitty - I hope she has all her little darlings with no trouble at all. and no - I've never seen them born. g

Looks like you might have gotten her just in the nick of time.

I didn't actually *see* kittens born. More accurately, went out with one cat and came home to six cats. We didn't even know Harvey was pregnant. Heck, we didn't even know Harvey was a GIRL!

(Mom paid more for Harvey because he/she was a boy. Guess she should have checked for herself.)

Oh my. That's quite the preggers kitty belly!

I've seen rabbits and puppies born. I've had to help turn a foal, and was on stand-by to do the same with a breech calf, but God and Mama somehow got it without me. (Small arms are handy on farms... ewwwww...)

i midwived at at least 4 births of kittens through the years, the first the poor mama was so confused as to what to do, after I helped her with that first kitten she was all set to go. She had 7, the next two cats only had one each, and the last cat had 7 all black kittens, she started about 5 AM and finished around 4 that afternoon, I would keep checking the box and there would be more! OUR cats were outside cats do to allergies (tom and both girls) but every mom tried her darndest to get those kittens in the house.

Oh, how sweet. How is it that she became your house guest? Is she a permanent member of the family now? No, I have never seen kitties born. I hope you post more pictures once she delivers. BTW, I've only watched piglets being born, and I certainly admire those who have had to help their animals deliver.

I've seen horses and cows (even assisted a few of these) give birth but never a dog or cat.

Enjoy the little ones until they find new homes.

I've seen a lot of animals born (grew up on a farm) but never a kitten... seems they always disappeared and we would have to hunt them down... there they'd be all curled up with a snuggly little mass of kittens. Hoping Lucy Lou has a smooth delivery. blessings ~ tanna

Oh sweet Lucy Lou!! I'm guessing 4 baby kitties. I helped deliver DD's German Shepard puppies and it was a moment to remember. Her Nikki was so appreciative of our help, but one was stillborn and that just hurt my heart. I don't know if I want to do that again!!

I haven't watched them being born, but I saw some shortly after birth. They weren't much to look at then, but they got really cute really fast. :)

Lucy is gorgeous! I think 5 kittens, and I've not seen any born but saw them pretty soon afterwards. It is amazing how quickly they change from a "mess" to something so cute!

Poor kitty, I cannot imagine that she is very comfortable right now! Are you a kitty foster home? Or did you take her in out of kindness? Either way I greatly admire you.

I took in a pregnant feral kitty a few years ago and still have the mom and her 4 kittens. I couldn't bear to part with them. Right now I am worried sick about the two that won't come in the house. We do have heated huts for them but man, is it cold out. Silly cats are going to give me a stroke.

Oh Momma, that belly is full!!! I am so glad she is home with you. I can hardly wait for her to birth and you better be there with the camera!!!!!

You can do this..... have the water boiling and close all your drawers and closet doors.....she will be looking for a very private place soon!

LOOK at that belly full of babies! Once we took in a wild cat who was very pregnant We named her Betty the Barncat. She delivered 4 Tuxedo kittens, and after they were weaned, she moved on to her life who knows where. We kept one kitten, Carlos, who was the exact opposite of his mother...he was a lazy homebody!

 Is that vague enough for you?  It has been a too busy complicated Spring.  I had no energy to blog.  All is well now, so I can share some things with you:   1. Dear buddy nurse and spay neuter pal Linda, came to visit yesterday.  We knitted. We laughed.  We shared books we are reading. She Showed me her scarf.  It looks like a shawl but it is a scarf. Here is her yarn choice. And the( OUCH) price.   It makes her happy to knit.  If Linda's happy I'm happy.  I dont' know the pattern and neither does she.  Her dog literally shredded her pattern.  She was at a point where she had memorized the easy part and she's nearly finished.  So there you go, anyone know the pattern? You are all so sweet about the move and the house.
