Beggar's NIght

 First and foremost, be safe y'all.  Al seems to be out of the hurricane path now.  She was held back at work for a day but she managed.  I think it is rotten that they got paid minimum wage while they slept to prepare for their next shift, but nursing has never been wise about representation and the like....
If you are in the path now or have lost your power etc, I'm thinking of you!  Here's to knitting in candlelight....think of it as spooky
We always called this night, the night before Halloween, beggars eve.  Some of us would go out and egg houses this night.....not me of course...I was too afraid of getting caught.  Did any of you honor Beggar's night?

Bea is in the true  Halloween spirit of course.... 
I am too.  I had my yearly Baby Ruth bar at work Sunday night...

 I am knitting a new pair of socks and had to rip out some of it.  I cast on 64 stitches for the ribbing and then started the body in another yarn.  Between the ribbing effect and the yarn change the sock body was enormous.  I ripped back to the end of the ribbing cuff and decreased 8 stitches evenly over the needles.   I hope that will make for a normal size sock body.  

 Are you prepared for Halloween yet?  Is the Hurricane going to change your Spooky plans?

We have flu shots at the station tonight. That's as wild and crazy as it gets here.

Tomorrow night, we'll go out to dinner and NOT turn on a single outdoor light, not that there are trick or treaters in the woods anyway.

I am not ready yet at all. Have to get pumpkins and candy yet. Will do that on my way home. We should have lots of neighbor kids come by. g

Glad to hear that Al is safe although probably exhausted.

I've never heard of Beggar's Eve or Night before.

I don't purchase candy for trick or treaters anymore. The downtown merchants have coordinated a "safe" environment for the kids to get their treats by going from store to store. Marketing at its best!

Yes, we went out on Beggar's Night soooo many years ago! The group egged houses (we were kind enough not to egg cars so we wouldn't ruin the paint) and we (me) we cut garden hoses in thousands of little pieces. I'm still ashamed umpty-ump years later!!

So glad to hear Al is okay!!

Glad Al is fine, I was thinking about her. We used to call this night Devil's night, I was never one to egg house or toilet paper trees, but it was always fun to see what had happened in the morning when you woke up. Of course living near Detroit when I was younger was interesting. They always took things a little too far, like lighting cars on fire.....

Maybe Beggar's Night is a Midwest thing? We used to do that in the Milwaukee area, only trick or treating. Then on Halloween a big costume parade happened in our town, but don't know it that's still true. No one in CA or up here in WA ever heard of Beggar's Night. Everything happens on Halloween..... Have a Happy one!

 Is that vague enough for you?  It has been a too busy complicated Spring.  I had no energy to blog.  All is well now, so I can share some things with you:   1. Insufficient Information

Dear buddy nurse and spay neuter pal Linda, came to visit yesterday.  We knitted. We laughed.  We shared books we are reading. She Showed me her scarf.  It looks like a shawl but it is a scarf. Here is her yarn choice. And the( OUCH) price.   It makes her happy to knit.  If Linda's happy I'm happy.  I dont' know the pattern and neither does she.  Her dog literally shredded her pattern.  She was at a point where she had memorized the easy part and she's nearly finished.  So there you go, anyone know the pattern? You are all so sweet about the move and the house.
