When To Quit, When to Conquer Your Fears

We rode horseback in Yosemite.  There was a time I was terrified to get atop a horse. My sister was thrown when I was riding with her in the woods in my 20s.  Something spooked her horse and in the end it was just a broken rib and a bruised kidney.   And a scary memory.  Over time I got back on a horse for a trail ride with my kids.   You feel so far UP when you get in the saddle.  There is something unique about riding a horse.   I love horses.  So this is Chance, and he was mighty steady as we rode for several hours in Wawona Valley.   (Okay so I took a xanax before I got on him.....truth be told..
but it was worth it! )
The Baby Blanket came together better than I'd dreamed.  I crocheted them together.  There are a zillion ends in the back.   A zillion is a word......see Dr. Suess please.   So I am knitting a plain garter back that I will crochet to the front and it will be a double sided blanket.....
I have a fear that my woven ends will loosen and the gift will have a hole in it someday.......
So I quit worrying about it and decided to knit a back.

Have you decided to quit worrying about anything lately???

Chance looks like a great horse. Ironically, the last trail ride I was on, I rode a friend's BEAUTIFUL little show pony, Lady Di. She was a sure-footed sweetheart.

Love the two-sided blanket idea. It will be nice and warm for a winter baby...

Since I think there's no chance anyone local will find this, I've quit worrying about whether or not my PE will "stay the course". Worrying won't change the outcome, and we have plans for virtually every scenerio, so... what will be will be.

Horses sure are interesting, aren't they? On our last trail ride (years ago), DH's horse turned around and went the other way....it had a mind of its own! Your blanket's looking good!

You are so brave!! I was a teen the last time I rode a horse, and you are right, I remember feeling like I was w-a-a-a-y up there! I love feeding the "big guys" over the fence every night. They are so gentle when they take an apple slice or carrot out of my hand!

Your Baby Blanket is beautiful. Of course zillion is a word. Where would gazillion come from if not?

I grew up around horses but have never been on the back of one.

Chance is a gorgeous horse - such a lovely color.

The baby blanket is cute as can be and will be treasured.

I love the baby blanket!

Now, as for the horse.... he is beautiful! I owned a buckskin quarter horse in my late 20's. I loved him - he was a gentle giant. He exploded in a full gallop (a leaf fell from a tree) with my hand hanging onto his lead line and broke a couple fingers in the process. Several years later I married and gave my Joe to a loving family.

I never wanted to own a horse again.

Enter my darling daughter Jessica who since she was 3 years old LOVED, RODE and wanted a horse. I stood my ground and said "NO" to her pleading - she went to college and got a four year degree in Equine Bus. Management and was on the teams etc. I watched as she got pitched head over tail from many horses....... they are powerful animals. A girl at the college got kicked in the head and died while bringing one of the college horses in for the night. I still love them, but from a great distance. I pray my daughter - when on her own will NEVER get one.......I can only hope.

Glad you had a good ride.

Love the blanket! I don't like weaving in ends, either.
I have ridden an elephant, but I have never ridden a horse! My mother was deathly allergic to them, so when growing up, I had to steer clear. Some day, maybe I will
I try to stop worrying about things that I can't control. Sometimes it works..

Riding on horses, you are so high up. Not sure if it's a fear, but I don't like it.

Same thing?

Lovely blanket.

I worry a LOT. Like, I worry about things in the future that might make me worry. Sometimes my boyfriend will be talking to me and say "You do realize that you're getting upset over the idea that sometime, in the future, if things go the way they think they'll go, you'll be upset?!" I'm trying to stop worrying and take things as they come... with a healthy dose of preparation.
