Fun Times in Cali

Half Dome is best viewed here, from Glacier Point in Yosemite.  Some people were actually visible on the top of the dome with a scope for viewing.  I Swear I saw a woman in a PINK BREAST CANCER Cure t-shirt waltzing around the top of the dome.   Good for you lady!  I was sweating just looking at the Dome from miles away.  I was happier on the valley floor near Camp 4 and Under El Capitan.
My dear friend Kath made me us a cake for our visit to her place in L.A.  Aren't these dancing cake people just the best???   She has this wacky incredible sense of humor.   We flew from Chicago to LA, then drove to Seqouia, Yosemite and then back to San Fransisco before boarding United Airlines back to Chicago.

Fireman Drove, and thanks to the genius of GPS and MapQuest the passenger got to knit.  In the olden days the passenger held the map in the direction she was going, (which drove Fireman crazy) and struggled with routes and advice for the driver.   No more.
It was knit and knit some more.   Fireman is a great driver.  Round and round the bends of the Sierra Nevada's , betwix and between bear and deer and chipmunk who dared cross the roads, and up and down elevations by the thousands of feet he took me on a fabulous trip.    Hope you haven't tired of the details yet!  More to come...

GPS is a real blessing. I was always the navigator on trips, but not anymore. I love knitting on trips instead of fighting maps.

That's so funny! I do the same thing - turn the map in the direction I'm going that way I know if you need to turn left or right! Drives JB crazy too - funny thing is - the GPS map moving doesn't bother him a bit! hem.

Yup, me holding map in the direction we were traveling - without my glasses on because even with bifocals I still could not read the tiny print - shouting to go right or left to my husband- again like two peas in a pod you and I are!

Thanks for the chuckle about the maps. I have been growled at for doing much the same. Stories are still told about what a lousy map reader I am. Now when he gets lost it's between him and the GPS!

Beautiful country.

Looks like a great trip. Those places you visited are on my list with the kids at some point...hopefully soon before they grow up and don't want to hang out with their Mom!

Very cute cake. GPS is awesome.

And I too turn maps in the direction of travel... and you can tell Fireman I used to run our dispatch center too! HRMPH. ;)

Oh, I LOVE Yosemite!! I haven't been since I was a teenager, but that and Sequoia are my first memories of being just AWED by natural beauty. Thanks for stopping by my blog...I agree that the recycled silk yarn is hard on your hands. I'm glad you said that, actually, because I noticed my hands were hurting but since I wasn't knitting on it for very long at a stretch, I was really wondering what I had done to make them hurt!!
