Saturday Knit Thoughts

Because it is getting so hot this summer I am walking down the Lace Road.  The road that normally eats me alive.  I've had very few successful lace knit ups finished.  Yet, I'm looking at patterns again.  I need a simpleton Easy One Row Lace scarf.  I know they are out there.  Maybe 2 or 4 rows MAX.
(suggestions so very welcome)

I used to knit with the finished product as my goal.  I just wanted the joy of the finish.  Lately I want to enjoy the knitting itself, from the yarn chosen to the pattern to the actual sit and knit.   Sure I want the outcome to be beautiful, but I want to love the knitting process as they say.  Process vs product.  The same old question.

I was reading some other knitters thoughts on the debate. Then this occurred to me, what if ALONG the way you discovered some joy.  Joy as in loving the cookie dough as much or more as the cookie.

I love the sightseeing along the way to a destination.
I love the gardening before the harvesting.
I love the picture taking for the posts.

There are some things, however, that never thrill me in the process:

I don't love working out, until it is over.
I don't love painting a room until it is done.
I don't love balancing the checkbook until it is balanced.
and I don't like and probably never will like studying for a test!~even though I am a good test taker......

OH and you have until 0400 to get in on the lace yarn contest!  good luck

I like all those things - I even like doing my budget every month :X I guess I'm a real process-oriented person.

and if you find that simple lace scarf pattern you are looking for please share it with me. I think I need to try out lace knitting. I bought some lace yarn just because it was on sale, and now I don't have a clue what to do with it! And it is bright pink, and I NEVER wear anything around my neck... I can feel a hot flash coming on just THINKING about wrapping something around my neck! What WAS I thinking?

This is the pattern I used for my shawl by just adding cast-on stitches. Fast and I promise EASY!!

Hi Kathy,
I just posted a blogpost on my delightful prize from you and another yarn surprise I got, and I hope you enjoy it and get some new readers from it. I love lace knitting too and am making the scarf from the Noro but I still have to decide on the gifts from you! thanks again,

I love to work out. I even like to sweat, as long as I'm working out and can shower before I can be in public again.

I hope you can find a lace pattern that speaks to you. My advice? Something with a "resting row"... makes lace easier for me anyway.

My knitting group is currently hooked on the Multnomah shawl. We can't seem to get enough of it. I know you asked for scarf patterns, but this shawl is small and makes a cute neck scarf. I've knit it in fingering weight and lace weight.

I hate cooking until the meal is ready!

I am really about the process when it comes to knitting or crochet. I love a finished project, but it often gets put on my shelf or given as I gift and I forget about it. I love to sit and feel the beautiful yarn working in my hands. I love watching the project unfold and then if it turns out the right way that is just and added bonus.
Hugs,
Meredith

I love knitting lace! Though I'm not sure what I'd suggest as an easy one...
