It may be in the genes

Seems I got some answers about my genetics and arthritis yesterday. I swear sometimes when I put the thought out there...answers come.. SPooky eh?

My Aunty El (elanore) called me yesterday. She's 85, lives in Florida and has never called me.
Seems she is great granny to a premie and wanted to tell me all about the NICU in Florida.

I was able to ask her if she was still crocheting. She said she is, just a tiny bit because of her arthritis. She said she made a popcorn stitch baby blanket 2 years ago......so that means she was able to crochet until the age of 83. WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOO.. Let's hope I have that gene.
I know I have some genes from that side that I'd rather not carry, but that one I'll take.
This is the same side of the family that claims our great great grandfather died while knitting at the age of 104.

Hmmmm seems I may get through my stash afterall....

(currently knitting Van's Twisted Rib Hat in Berroco Comfort. I am doing a little fair isle above the twisted rib. Can you make out the solid green stitches, every 4th stitch? )

Ooh that's cute, I like that hat! Mickey, at Three Bags, was still knitting up a storm the last time I saw her two years ago (and she was 87!).

Other than my paternal grandmother and an uncle, I am the only knitter in my family. I tried to teach my sister to knit, but that was a bust.

I love the hat and the Fair Isle touch! My Mom's arthritis didn't let her knit past 70 but I have a friend who is still knitting at 92. I met her in Michael's last week and she was walking faster than me and grabbing yarn like she plans to knit until she is 104! I pray it is so with all of us!!

I didn't! And at 52 am totally freaked out about a thumb that has stopped working! Not giving up and will go under the knife if necessary. Like that hat!

What a darling hat! And yes, I see that green every 4th stitch. My mom's mom and most of her sisters lived well into their 90s.

Haha, love your comment about making it through the stash! My great grandma was knitting for ages and ages; she still had some projects on the needles when she passed away, and I have one of her gorgeous afghans at the foot of my bed.

My grandma - she died at age 89. I still have the pattern of the bear that she made as last project. She mostly knit socks in her life though

 Is that vague enough for you?  It has been a too busy complicated Spring.  I had no energy to blog.  All is well now, so I can share some things with you:   1. Insufficient Information

Dear buddy nurse and spay neuter pal Linda, came to visit yesterday.  We knitted. We laughed.  We shared books we are reading. She Showed me her scarf.  It looks like a shawl but it is a scarf. Here is her yarn choice. And the( OUCH) price.   It makes her happy to knit.  If Linda's happy I'm happy.  I dont' know the pattern and neither does she.  Her dog literally shredded her pattern.  She was at a point where she had memorized the easy part and she's nearly finished.  So there you go, anyone know the pattern? You are all so sweet about the move and the house.
