Kitten song of the day

As I was going to St Ives
I met a man with seven wives
Each wife had seven sacks
Each sack had seven cats
Each cat had seven kits
Kits, cats, sacks, wives
How many were going to St Ives?

I sang this to the kittens as I cut their nails...
6 kittens, four paws each, 5 toes on each paw...
no bleeders!

Tell me you know this song...Fireman swears he has never heard it...
he was musically and poetically deprived as a child...

I love this! I never knew it as a song, just a nursery rhyme. The answer is 1.

; )

Glad to hear there were no bleeders.

All those paw toes and no bleeders? You are a pro!! We have to let the Vet cut Macy's claws. It takes more than two people LOL! Maybe if you would record the song for us she would be still enough for us to cut them ourselves. You could market it as "The Nail Cutting Song."

I do know this one. I guess my mom sang them all to us as kids. And of course I taught them to my girls. And I tell/sing them to my grandkids.

I just know it as a nursery rhyme as well. Kudos to you on the trims. The Knight does all doggy nails here. I am too afraid of nicking something!

can't you video tape yourself singing this song so i can hear the turn. You have a pretty voice. I heard you sing the Star Spangled Banner :o)

I know it, but not as a song so much as a children's rhyme. But then, I'm terribly old-fashioned and know lots of these sorts of things. :-)

My Pepere used to say this as a riddle to us grandkids, only with slightly edited wording. He would say:

On my way to St. Ives
I met a man with seven wives
The seven wives held seven sacks
The seven sacks held seven cats
The seven sacks had seven kits
Kits, Cats, Sacks and Wives, how many went to St. Ives?

I think it rolled off the tongue better.
