Today's secret word: Improvement

My Seaman's scarf is finished. I am improving a bit as a knitter, I think, because I am blending patterns to my liking. I am not writing patterns, for certain, but my confidence must be improving. I just knitted a faux cable for the bulk of the scarf, and knitted a typical rib for the neck area. While I love how it came out, it cannot be for me. My hives are also improving...and although I soaked the scarf in conditioner, it is still too wooly for this skin sensitive knit blogger to wear....

Things are improving for the shelter cats at Heartland Animal Shelter in Northbrook. Here is an adoptable tortishell kitten, enjoying a blanket knit up by Molly from Three Bags Full , once removed...(her mom Adrianne works there!) I have found more blankets in my mailbox. Dorothy M and Linda C. I thank you so much. You are both entered in the raffle for the Moosemanor handpaints yarn in a custom color of your choice. Get those kitty blankets in to me by 2/28 and you can be in the raffle too!

Fireman loves my homemade granola. I improved my standard recipe with Pepitas. Little pumpkin seeds that are a colorful green. I like how they taste and how they make the granola look with a mix of craisen reds. This improvement was brought to me by my sister the vet, Michelle. She always puts them in her granola.....

and Finally, the ultimate Home improvement around here: The finished kitchen...

Awww- that kitty looks so cute on the blanket! I think it's wonderful that you're collecting blankets for the kitties- I'm not participating, but only because I'm making them to donate to a shelter a little closer to me (the one that gave us my boyfriend's wonderful cat!)

Gorgeous! Have you been doing a lot of cooking in it? I wouldn't be able to resist.

The more you knit the more your knitting confidence improves at least that's how it worked for me.

Great looking scarf! What's the yarn? It's very pretty. Love that kitchen...we are just in the beginning stage with ours... That's an interesting cat. Aren't torties usually tri-colored? Ours has a lot of black but white and brown/tan also...a bad dye job according to DH. What else is in your granola?

Dear Judy S:
The yarn is Weavers WOol Quarters by Moutain Colors
and here is my granola recipe:

4 cups old fashioned oats
1/1/2 cups sliced almonds
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup margarine or butter melted
1/4 cup honey
1 tsp vanilla
1/1/2cups dried craisens
1/2 cup pepitas

Bake at 300 degrees for about 40 minutes. Stirring every 10 minutes or so. Mmmmm. Store in airtight bags or containers.

Talk about dedication, to continue to knit despite not being able to actually wear the stuff!! I'm impressed.

Your cupboards look gorgeous - I lo ve that you can see the grain in the wood so nicely.
