Guest Blogger NATALIE at the Apple Store

Part of success with the guest bloggers is the speed at which you make your request. Now this is a busy Apple Store. While Natalie was ringing up the NEW battery we needed, I slipped in my request. Her response, "Oh sure, let's go up front where the light is better."

Today's topic is the frugality. (again!)
My hope with the frugal hungarian yarn swap was to see if we could all behave responsibly.
Part of the success with swappers is having such a theme that few people actually participate!
Remember my first swap was made up of Grace and I. I think Grace wins the nice to the pitiful award for that one!
This time we had 5 and me. Apparently frugality scares the masses.
Admit it, you probably thought it was going to lead to acrylic exchanges, garage sale FREE yarns in 1970s colors.
(imagine Kitty's afgan from That 70s show)
I love Kitty but that's another story.
Instead I can report that 4 of us have swapped so far. The results: impressive ladies, very impressive

We all stayed near 20.00. I know that Kristn and I totalled 21.00.
Katherine of ComfotZone fame sent me gorgeous soft Elann Alpaca.
I can't wait to knit some lace with this color.
I wont go through the whole box because, you didnt get the box and would probably lose interest.
I'll pepper future blog posts with other great items she sent to me. She hit it right on the mark.
We were supposed to send each other at least one comic just to make for a laugh.

I sent one to Katherine from the Argyle Sweater comic strip. Any fans out there?
I have always like the comic but never bothered to read it's NAME.
The Argyle sweater.......c'mon it screamed PERFECT to me.

I will say I put some goofy freebies in my swappers box.
Free suckers from our bank, mints from Subway, etc.
Mostly for the laughs I knew they would bring.
At least I didnt send free ketchup packets from McDonalds.....

One thing we did was to take a picture of our leftover yarns that we could part with.
We then picked from each other's leftover stash and were newly inspired.
One man's trash, is another's treasure.... but it wasnt trashy yarn at all.

Overall I think we each sent each other a top notch new skein or two of yarn
and the rest was little goodies. THey may turn out to be treasures of their
own knit up.

I'll talk to you in the comments. :)

OK, now I learn just how out of touch I have been (did I tell you I JUST got high speed internet two weeks ago)... I didn't even know you were doing this! Personally, I am ALL about frugality, and was before the recession. Even some of the acrylics have helped me have the right colors for my stuffed creations. Nice to know you grrls are helping each other through:)

Sounds like a cute and fun swap. It's been awhile since I took part in one... Who doesn't love getting mail and other fun goodies! The bag you received from Katherine is beautiful! It reminds me of the Noro Booga Bags I completed recently (http://hookedonknitting.blogspot.com/2009/03/booga-bags-completed.html). Hmmm... now I am itching to do another swap. I guess I'll go check out Ravelry and see what's happening...

This swap was so much fun! I love everything in my box and I would never have had the chance to knit with sugar cane yarn without this exercize in fugality!! The leftovers are well on the way to being another end-to-end scarf. It's made me realize that we should all spread our leftovers around from time to time. Great fun!
