Patterns for tall women, or why I'll never knit this masterpiece

I'm about 50. I'm about 5 foot 2. And while I have the eyes of blue, I'll never knit the Vest of Many Colors.
I love the Vest of Many Colors.
I love the light on the model's hair in the image presented.
I love the way her hair and the vest swing together.
I love the green shirt beneath the vest of many colors.
I love the big necklace.
The big sunglasses.
That purse that she's swinging around with the hair and the vest.
I love her blue jeans.
I used to have long hair.
I loved to swing it around.
I loved to put it up.
I felt very earthy with my long hair.
(*sigh, it took me 3 years to grow it good and long,)

Almost everyone agreed it wasn't a good look for me....
I would without a doubt, look ridiculous in the vest of many colors

Do I love it because I cannot have it?
Do you have a pattern you love that you cannot have?
I think we all do.

That made me laugh!! I suffer from the illusion that I'm tall (about 5'8") but I'm actually 5'1". I'm constantly attracted to patterns for tall, skinny people.

I'm sure I'll find us some good patterns for us, not so tall gals!

Oh she;s so short She looks so good in a ...........large man's shirt with his tie for belt/sash

The vest is beautiful but when you are as big as I am 5 9 1/2 weighing uptitty hundreds of gazillion pounds then you just can't where that many colors at once, you just can't!!

.....skorts. Ok, it rhymes at least. I so want to wear a coat of many colors like that, but shoot with 70 degree temps in February, long wool coats are simply not appealing.

I feel you here. I'm 5'2" also and am not as in-shape as these models. I have the hardest time finding clothes, much less making them (C'mon! I want to see pictures of these knitted items on girls like "the rest of us" and not super-tall, super-skinny girls!).

Hehehe. I think you're right. Sometimes we're drawn to something that simply isn't us. Lace is that way for me. I want to knit it because it's an area of knitting I really haven't delved into... but there's a reason. I'm NOT a lacy gal. So I look at lace books, I take a lace class, I buy the yarn, I buy the patterns and then I remember. "Hey. You don't actually like lace"

"I feel your pain"!!! I get the short jokes all the time. You see, I'm 4' 11"! That many bold colors and that heavy a vest would make me look like, well, an Arabian tent in the middle of the desert. ;) But, yes, there are many things that I would love to wear that I can't and won't.

She looks so good in stilettos! I'm 5'10" and have never been able to wear stilettos without looking like Amazon Woman.

I can't imagine myself wearing the long multi-color vest, but I would love to be able to knit a lace shawl to wear.

Yikes - I love it. I used to be very tall and thin but am working my way down in height and up in weight (sigh).

Where is the pattern from? I tried looking on Rav but couldn't find it under that name.

I'd modify it a lot but I do tend to knit things with lots of different colors in them.

Oh my. I'm 5'9" and it would take YEARS to knit that! In my head I'm about 5'3" and weigh 90 pounds, but we both know that's not true.

I'd love to have a modular jacket, but that ain't happening either.

How weird. I googled it, looked on Amazon, looked in Ravelry and the book does not seem to exist. Who's the author? Now I NEED it. Like really NEED to see the pattern :-)

Thanks. Now I'm on a quest to see the pattern in the flesh. I generally design my own patterns but get inspiration by looking at other's patterns. Although I always disliked garter stitch, since I've discovered Hanne Falkenberg's designs, I'm changed my mind and have knit a number of things similar to hers. I'll see what the local bookstores have (HA HA HA)

Every Once in a While I Might Post

 Is that vague enough for you?  It has been a too busy complicated Spring.  I had no energy to blog.  All is well now, so I can share some things with you:   1. When I shoot photos of the moon I think of Dear Teresa.  Gone too soon. She took fabulous moon pictures.  2. I did not see one shooting star last night.  I only got up for a few moments around 3 a.m.  The local weather guy said he saw a few quick faint ones.   3. How can I can have one grown child in Oklahoma under flood watch, and One Child in Mexico under hurricane watch?  On the same day.  Tis true.  4. What have I knitted lately?  I am pretty sure I've ripped more than I've knit.  I ripped out a shawl that I was making up.  It was cotton and pretty.  I need to follow a pattern.  5. I was trying to make socks and decided to make mittens instead.  I haven't worked a thumb in a long time.  I may have to frog it too.  So I ha...
