One of my favorite bloggers Lynne, asked : do you wear the things you knit? Well, I'm wearing the practice sweater today. I am including a close up of the puppy buttons. Sunny at the cleaners charged me 3.00 dollars to sew the 7 buttons on. 3.00 for peace of mind. What a bargain.

I have worn practice sweater all day without even a thought of a button mishap. The awful sound of a button hitting the floor and breaking my heart won't be happening here. Nope. Call me a cheater... .I am so HAPPY!

The acrylic practice sweater doesn't itch one bit. I have a sleeveless shirt on underneath. If I make the real sweater with the birthday washable merino heathered purple wook, I may change a few things. The sleeves are beyond roomy. I could hide a BOX of kleenex up my sleeve. Oh and I am going to look in Knit and Tonics new book Close Knits. Has anyone seen it yet? She's a top down raglan lover.

So Lynne, I am happiest when I can wear something I knit. It has been a long learning curve for me. I'm thinking of parting with a few early knits that are truly terrible. I know, a bad round of golf wouldn't upset a golfer. Admitting that I wasted money on the yarn kills me. I wonder if I can actually throw them out.??????

Have you done this? Do you have any tips? How can I stop the pain as I discard them? And yes, they are unfroggable. Help me help me!

What can I say? I had to part with sweaters that I knit in my life, due to shrinkage...LOL! that is what you get if hubby tried to help and did the laundry. It was a red mohair sweater...and afterwards my little sister could wear it. That is a long time ago now... and since that time I stick to acrylic for sweaters mostly. Works best.

I love your sweater and the too cute buttons. :) Great job. I have a couple older things I knit - my first sweater and my first wrap - and they didn't come out so well. I know I'll never wear them, but I just can't part with them. I'm a sentimental sap that way.

Just hold your breath and give them to someone you know. I gave away the poncho that I made and never really wore. I love that Allison, my co-worker, wears it alot at the office and I get to see it. I've had to get rid a few of my early sweaters, too. It's okay...you can do it.

I did that recently. I gave three old sweaters away because I was not happy with my knitting of them and never wore them. One went to DD because she said she wanted it, and the other two went to Good Will. When I handed them to the lady at the counter at Good Will she looked at them and then at me and I thought she was going to say, "What am I supposed to do with these?" LOL

I love practice sweater and the puppy buttons!!

Your practice sweater is lovely, and the buttons are adorable. One way to practice sweaters and use less yarn is to try a baby sweater first. I made several as gifts for co-workers, and they came out OK. In the meantime, they improved my knitting a little bit more each time. I still have the first one I made, though - it was finished long after the baby grew out of it! LOL!

Congrats on being a "fearless knitter" and trying new things!

This sweater looks great! As for the knits that didn't turn out so well, it's okay to get rid of them. You're not wearing them now as it is.

I kept my first monstrosity lo these many years (it was my first sweater after all), but I have frogged, tossed or given away the others (my sister has a really cute cardigan that was too big for me). I figure that life is to short and my closet too small. Think about it as making room for future knits!

PS Now if there was someone that would SEAM the sweater for $3...

I love your sweater and those cute little buttons. Threw out old knits or drop them in a charity bag or if they're knit with wool ... FELT and turn 'em into a purse or coasters. ;-) But of course, it can't be superwash wool. There's nothing wrong with re-cycling.

No guilt for getting rid of truly terrible knits - try Goodwill if it hurts too much to throw them away. =)

Why don't you donate your sweaters to a charity or somewhere that resells used clothing? They will either be purchased, worn and loved, or a knitter on a small budget will frog them and knit them into something else. Either way, it's a win-win.

 Is that vague enough for you?  It has been a too busy complicated Spring.  I had no energy to blog.  All is well now, so I can share some things with you:   1. Insufficient Information

Dear buddy nurse and spay neuter pal Linda, came to visit yesterday.  We knitted. We laughed.  We shared books we are reading. She Showed me her scarf.  It looks like a shawl but it is a scarf. Here is her yarn choice. And the( OUCH) price.   It makes her happy to knit.  If Linda's happy I'm happy.  I dont' know the pattern and neither does she.  Her dog literally shredded her pattern.  She was at a point where she had memorized the easy part and she's nearly finished.  So there you go, anyone know the pattern? You are all so sweet about the move and the house.
