Have you ever.....

1) Bought a skein of yarn thinking the colorway ws so lovely, until you knit it up? (Photo)

4) left a pool party on a 90degree evening, because you had to start knitting?

tee hee..several skeins of sock yarn are in my stash that I thought I would like but upon knitting didn't...good thing is..with a strand of worsted weight yarn, it blends nicely for charity socks, sweaters, and mittens. And yes, I have often doubled my sock yarn. These days I just can't knit with smaller needles so this works well. And shoot...just knit at the pool. That's what I have been doing lately.

I know just how you feel. Sometimes the sock yarn knits up way too wonky for my tastes. I'm quite envious that you had your own private LYS for the day. How cool is that?

It happens so often with self-striping sock yarns that I have just about decided I don't like them at all! But Woven-n-spun has a great idea about mixing in a strand of worsted. I think I'll try it.

I DO fall in love with yarn all the time, and have to remind myself I can't have all of it:) I am trying to cope with sweltering heat and the desire, suddenly, to make a winter vest from my own heavy worsted weight handspun... are we a bit daft?!

The colors in the sock are most definitely different than on the skein, but they are still very pretty.

1. Yup, but I put it in a time-out and came back to it later with different sized needles and/or pattern and it decided to behave.

It could be worse - at least the socks are inside your shoes. I am primarily a sweater-knitter and I buy all of these "gorgeous-in-the-skein" yarns, only to have them turn out to be "mediocre-or-worse-in-the-sweater"

It really is a bummer and just so you know, it is miserably hot here too, and I had committed to knitting a bulky all-over cabled high turtleneck sweater with a fixed delivery date. Nothing like having to sew together the thing which weighs a ton and I hate to do under the best of circumstances, in 90 degrees.

If I sound grouchy right now, it's because I'm feeling that way.

Leaving a pool party to knit makes sense.

I can definitely relate to a few of those. I have more than one skein in my stash that makes me wonder what the heck I was thinking when I bought it. One of the ugliest pair of socks I have ever knit are the warmest ones I have. It took me two years to finish them because the were so ugly though.

 Is that vague enough for you?  It has been a too busy complicated Spring.  I had no energy to blog.  All is well now, so I can share some things with you:   1. Insufficient Information

Dear buddy nurse and spay neuter pal Linda, came to visit yesterday.  We knitted. We laughed.  We shared books we are reading. She Showed me her scarf.  It looks like a shawl but it is a scarf. Here is her yarn choice. And the( OUCH) price.   It makes her happy to knit.  If Linda's happy I'm happy.  I dont' know the pattern and neither does she.  Her dog literally shredded her pattern.  She was at a point where she had memorized the easy part and she's nearly finished.  So there you go, anyone know the pattern? You are all so sweet about the move and the house.
