Come ride the little train that is rolling down the tracks.

To the junction.....(Cmon, sing it) PETTICOAT JUNCTION!

Today's guest bloggers are Heidi with her incredible fairisle sweater and her current knitting, a lovely cabled hat AND
Clarina our train sterward who is a knitter. I rode the train from Chicago to St Paul Minnesota to visit my sister for the weekend. My own knitting for the trip is a new blanket. You know I'll bre showing it to you soon on the blog. Clarina is holding it in its infancy.

I was going on a trip and this is what I saw:

21 Eagles perched on naked trees on the Mississippi River
The backs of doggy day cares, with happy dogs playing in the snow.
Beautiful barns and beautiful farmhouses.
Homes within a few yards of the tracks, and in their homes, after dark I saw: lots of mounted deer heads
Deer running in a line down a snowy path they made on farmland
Church steeples, lovely and rural
Couples hugging before boarding
Hunters dressed in oranges with black dogs in the snow
and
the faces of people waiting in their cars, for our train to move on.

Great trip knitting. I'll do it again. Have you knitted on a train?

I love Petticoat Junction! One of my favorites as a kid. Looks like you had a fun train trip. I've only knitted on the Metra going downtown.

We traveled a lot by train when living in Europe. Can't remember if I ever knit or anything else, though, probably not. You bring back some good memories.

We missed getting to meet you, but yes, that train ride is a great one for knitting. And couldn't the airlines learn something about passenger comfort from Amtrak??

Come back! There are knitters here who want to meet you! :-)

LIsa and I knit on a train last fall! We took a fall leaves excursion on a historic train, and knit the whole time!

I used to do a 4 hour commute (combo of train and bus) every week to get to work (Wagga to Canberra). The train half was dedicated to letter writing - the train was steadier! -while the bus half of the trip was dedicated to knitting. When I was knitting with dpns I'd drop one occasionally and the bus driver used to call out, "Was that a needle Kate or did one of the wheel bolts just sheer off?"!

Looks like so much fun. Not only have I never knit on a train, but I've never ridden a train. What a boring life I lead, huh?

I did ride the train in Holland, but never knit in the train. Almost impossible to do on short distances.:-)

Yup - knitting on trains, planes and automobiles - and just about anywhere that I can (I don't knit in Church, but that's about the only place I don't). Looks like a great trip. I can hardly wait to see the pictures. Have a great time.
