I have such respect for Veterans.  Thank you to each of you who is a Vet or is married to or in love with a Vet.  To Barb and her husband Ron, thank you thank you thank you.  Vietnam.....a horror.  To Larry and Sandy thank you thank you thank you Vietnam...a horror To Christine and Jeremy...thank you ..young,  in love, and active duty.   I wanted to post a good site for Vietnam Vet donations, but I'm waiting to hear from Barb.  Barb says the Wounded Warrior Project is Awesome!     This is a horrible picture of my magic circle vest.  Squint ok? It is knit in one big circle.  I'm going along, not really sure what's going on... Blindly knitting away and enjoying it!    This is a crazy cat lady mug.  Update on Westley and Dink....Humperdink.. Westely is playful with toys. Dink is sleepy this morning.   Hug a Vet today~

I'm In Love

Image
Fireman took this shot, hahaha, the other day from his bicycle.  Isn't this a gorgeous buck?   What you can't see is his lover crouched down and waiting for him on a warm fall morning.   I'm still in love with the cowl pattern that is a shop pattern from 3 Bags Full Knitting Studio.  I couldn't knit this while I was sick.   I love Linda.  She knit her cowl with no problems at all using....of course,  what we all love... Road to China Light.  You already know we loved the Cat Show.  I think I'm in love with my new knit project.  I'm knitting a Magic Circle Vest.  Perhaps, just perhaps, I've found the right pattern for my Sheep and Wool Festival wool yarn.   I love fostering.  We picked up the two little brothers yesterday. Both all black.  I've named the Humperdink and Wesley because I love The Princess Bride.  I'm saving the name FEZZIK for my new...

Crazy Cat Ladies

Image
Yesterday my pal Linda and I did a crazy thing.  We went to a cat show.  I've been dying to go to one for a long time. Linda is my spaynueter OR partner and longtime nurse pal. She is an animal lover. The TICA's Cat show was in St. Francis Wisconsin. How fitting...   It was fascinating and kooky as you would imagine.   This Judge was happy to teach us about each breed and what she was looking for in conformation.  I was pretty amazed at how calm these cats, most of them, were (being taken out of crates, handled, and not reacting to the clapping crowd.) I fell in love the with Maine Coons.  I think I may have to get a Maine Coon when dear Rozzy passes on.  I found a reputable breeder and she is highly regarded. Somehow, being in the shelter arena and having only mutts for cats, I feel a bit guilty about my wish.  Then the shelter called and I'm picking up two kittens toda...

A Fine Finish with My Swap Yarn

Image
Happy Friday!   I love weekends now that I am retired.  They are an amazing part of each week that I missed out on for years.   Happy Friday!  I finished the Double Roll Storm Hat which is an original pattern from Annie's Woolens in Eagle River.  Tea's  swap  handspun wanted to be my new winter hat.  It was the most well behaved yarn in my house!  I have to make a pom for the top of it.  The double roll is really run and easy to make.  I haven't knitted this pattern in 10 years.   There is nothing like a great pattern for equally great yarn.    I may have indulged in a cinnamon treat this morning.   Fireman and I met dear Emma Booshay for breakfast.  Mmmm,, Emma took us to Baker Miller Bakery in Lincoln Square.  Donna Booshay has an amazing daughter.   We liked her even before she took us to Baker Miller! Really we did.  There is nothing lik...

Easy Patterns

Image
My first fingerless from many years ago bit the dust. I threw them out after one last wear yesterday.  They must have snagged on something in the basket I kept them in over the summer months.  Perhaps they snagged when I last washed them to put them away.  They look like they were cut..... so Good Bye Dear Koigu fingerless.  You were awesome.  They were the simplest garter pattern on two needles ever. Sometimes easy is perfection.  I am aspiring to these crochet flowers for my newest slippers. They would really dress them up. Maybe this morning.... cause its cold its gray  and its a raining!  The little Wonderbread dog that I showed you last week is improving.  She has lost 5 lbs.  She is breathing easier!  Way to go Charlie!  She's got a long way to go... but its a good start! Finally do you get daily  Knit Picky Patterns  from ALL FREEKN...

When Swaps Rock

Image
Kim at handeyecrafts had a seasonal swap. It was very fun.   I won't show you my swap that I sent to my person because she hasn't received it yet.  Yesterday, I got mine in the mail.  Teabird17.blogspot is a retired librarian and a spinner.  She sent me her handspun yarn!  She sent magnet page clips and she sent darling fox notepads and mini purse.  Perhaps the reason I keep frogging is that I need to knit some fingerless with that handspun asap!  She suggested fingerless and so it is, or maybe it is a hat...see here I go again.  I am just a mini mess about my knitting lately.  I cast on, I knit for a bit, I rip it out. I don't let it bother me.  The yarn and I just haven't talked enough yet I guess. I'm under no deadlines.  I'm retired .....ahhhhh, I say that many times a day and smile each time. Lets see:  Today's I'm ripping out the last Attempt...

Rolling Right Along...

Image
This Trap is now frogged.  The blend of grey with the self striping yarn interfered with the effect.  So, deep breath, I'm casting on something else with the Liberty Wool.   I think it will make a pretty sea mans' scarf.  Lesson learned: don't mix a self striping yarn with a solid in the same color as one of the stripes.    My toes were cold, so I knit myself a pair of slippers.  Granny style ...so simple.  Dear Katherine send me thick n chunky birthday yarn.  Its so soft and warm to wear on my feet.  May make another pair and felt them.... Uncle Tank .....just because.. Happy Tuesday !
