Thanks for all the great suggestions. Many feltings later, they are cute as a pumpkin. I do love the color. Don't know if I would think of repeating this experience, but at least I feel like they came out okay. Just working on some socks currently. An Opal yarn with oranges and blacks and whites. Nothing fancy. Superwash. :) I have quite the sock yarn stash since Stitches and feel like knitting away on simple socks. I also have a great yarn from my friend Diane and they will be socks as well. The blue fingerless gloves were a quick knit up for my neighbor. The raspberry were supposed to be for my other neighbor. Both women have been really kind and helpful to me this fall. Oh dear. The blues are great. The raspberries are too big, in case you cannot miss the obvious, sorry. I've tried felting them TWICE. We are trying a third attempt and I may have to throw them in the dryer too. We know this yarn felted into a fantastic purse Al made last year that became mine. Is the ribbing the problem? Is the Kookaburra soap just too soft for this yarn? I can only post this problem, because I read another blogger's mishap post today. Her sock problem admission, made sharing this misknit much easier. (thanks elizabeth, you know who you are, I won't share the link for a innocent mistake you made!) This lovely sock was made by Al using a Hedwig colorway. She created the pattern. I love the owl like colorway. I believe it was SweetGeorgiaYarns. I washed many knitted socks today. It is so nice to have a selection. I know socks are a bit of work, but what useful knitting eh? I am using the Kookaburra wash that I purchased from Knit Picks. I like the soft scent. Just tell me how grateful you are that I can quit blogging about this jacket. The knitting finished around 10pm last night as the Mets were up 11-5 or so. Al can attest: I had less than one foot of the Noro yarn left, as I bound off. Okay, it is really pretty now that my part is finished! I am dropping it off at LYS tomorrow; call me a cheater, an inferior knitter, whatever....they can do the seam finishing for me. After all this work, I am not going to risk fudging it. I may add two clasp type buttons as shown in the original pattern picture by Cabin Fever knits. Tonight, as we watch the Bears game, I will cast on something else. This is the new rocking chair that I was gifted yesterday. My friend Joann wanted me to have it for my porch. Radar is naturally first to check it out. I am thinking I should make some fingerless gloves for gifts soon. This raspberry Kara from Lynne at Iwasknittogetherinmymotherswomb,was sent in in the red/pink swap. I wonder if it is soft enough for fingerless or better to felt with? It is soy and wool....it feels soft.... The stone is the small little boxy thing by the Halloween socks that I am sometimes knitting. Sometimes, because THE sleeve to THE coat is still being worked on. I am getting very very close to finishing the knitting. Is it possible that one can actually be depressed with a too long project? I am sometimes reading Yarn Harlot, which is always making me smile and laugh. Perhaps she has a chapter on this knitting condition. Everyone who has left an encouraging comment is considered part of the ultimate success of this coat. Thank you! The sweater stone was used on my knitpicks socks that got a bit pilly after a year of washing and radiator drying. It did perk them up quite a bit. I had to sweep the porch afterwards because......there are enough yarny things that make the house untidy for the non-knitters in the house. Have a great weekend. I know that Al making this very cute hat did NOT bring the snow today. We broke some sort of weather record here today. Well, her very cute hat will get some use.
