Cookie Sheet Blanket Contest .....

This is a call for knitters to knit a baby blanket no bigger than a cookie sheet. Blankets will be distributed in the NICU where I work. We just don't get many blankets. We need them. Traditional baby colors will do, but we'd love you to branch out a bit. Use up those leftovers if you wish.

You could win a lovely prize. All who send a blanket by November 1st, ALL SAINTS DAY, you angels you, will be entered in the drawing.

Here are the rules:

Blanket must be made of yarn which is washable. Sorry, Hospital rules.

It cannot be bigger than a cookie sheet. Smaller is welcome also.

That's it. Those are the rules.

I'll post the prize by next week.

Mail a blanket to me

Kathy B

if you need my snail mail address, email me at Harpnut@gmail.com

What a good idea! I'd love to make one for you. Don't mean to be tedious, but what size cookie sheet -- I have lots of different sizes?
Blessings,

I will pledge to make at least one blanket for you. I also posted your request on my blog to hopefully reach a new group of crafters.

Nancy : thanks! Appreciate you spreading the word.

I think I have one in peach acrylic that is almost finished. It's square in the present state and I thought I was going to have to do a lot more knitting on it. Bind off and in the mail--that's it! Maybe I can even make another before Nov.

do you want acrylic my pretend friend, I will fire up the needles!

You are telling everyone where you live? You can't trust these pretend friends of yours...

You can count on me. I'm sure I have some very nice acrylic here somewhere and thanks Gigi for asking the size - I have all sorts of sized cookie sheets including my grandmother's which are genuine antiques.

I'm going to try to get at least one blanket to you.

HEARD ABOUT YOU THROUGH NANCY'S BLOG. I DON'T KNIT BUT CROCHET AND SEW. WOULD THAT BE ALRIGHT? I CAN USE A SC STITCH SO TINY LITTLE FINGERS DON'T GET CAUGHT IN A HOLE. ALSO I DO A LOT FOR PREEMIES AND I WAS TOLD NOT TO USE WOOL.

I posted about it on my blog, too. I'll try to get something together. Got lots of knitting projects lined up for the fall....But, in my own words, a cookie sheet blanket is like 2 dishcloths.

Kathy from Nancy's blog crochet or sew is also wonderful. The babies families would love them.

Kim, thanks for posting, Just don't use my address okay? I sort of goofed on that the first time.

Ling, How wonderful of you. I hate to have you pay all that postage, though.

I'll take the challenge. I just finished a project, so I'll cast on tonight and make up a couple of little blankies. I made a whole stack that size for my niece's dolls when she was a little girl.

Hey Sweetie - first can you reply by email but I'll get that and I might not check back here soon enough.

Anyway - can they be fabric? I have a lovely stack of pink baby print flannel that would be perfect. But I don't want to whip them out if they won't work.

Thanks - g

I take it the NICU would always have a need for this? I don't know if I could make the Nov 1 deadline/contest, but would you be accepting these anytime (through the end of this year, etc)?
Tamara said…
I will try to do this too! Thanks to Alyssa for letting us know about this.
