We interrupt this contest.......

Now, before anybody gets too upset with me,
let me explain.

There are exceptions to almost every rule.
Without the long story, let me just say that an exception
was made yesterday that made my son very happy. it was the right thing to do.

So, I'm making an exception and pulling the original contest yarn.
Because it is the right thing to do.
One of you pretend friends is getting the yarn
because I am a softy and cannot say no to a friend in need.

A pretend friend in need,
is a pretend friend indeed.

Therefore,
you need to rename the new yarn which is already named.
Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock color 48: Purple Irish.

If you'd like these lovely skiens, please give it a better name.
There is a little ? brownish tone to some of the yarn. I hope you can see it.
So, please reenter with a name for this new giveaway yarn.
I have to say the runners up for the last colorway that
I was leaning towards were: Curious George and the one
that sounds like Clapotis but is a tart in reality .

So oops, start over.
Because I think it is the right thing to do....

I'll talk to you in the comments. :)

You should have taken the iris yarn next to the bearded iris! And my new name is "purple people eater!"

Okay, so this one reminds me of "Pansies In The Rain." Beautiful colors!! I like this one better than the last.

How sweet of you--I would expect you to do something nice for a pretend friend in need!

Solero...or the battle between yellow and red.

Once upon a time, in a forest far away
Blue lived near a sparkling river
She had two lovers; Yellow and Red
who were fighting for her love

Blue got enough of the fighting
and took her lovers by hand
Her colour disappeared and
Yellow turned green
and Red turned purple

Love each other she said...

"Marechal Foch," a cold-climate grape for a cold-climate yarn.

Yikes - everyone's names are so creative. All I got is "Mardi Gras Mayhem"

When I saw this one, my brain yelled lavender. I'd name it LAVENDER LUXE. Really pretty.

Or how about LAVENDER (and old) LACE

I hope your camera brings you tons of joy.

Ooh! My "clafoutis" was in the running? That makes my day!

Ok, this one is a bit harder though... I'll go with "Emperor's Clothes" since they were pretend too ;)

Fit for a queen. This is worth coming out of lurkdom for:

amethyst and emeralds

Really beautiful.

Since my original choice "IrisEyes" was already given, I think it looks like Vineyard Heaven, kind of a play on Vineyard Haven on Martha's Vineyard.

I just went out for a walk and in the field ornamental grass was quite tall and in bloom. The tops were purple, the bottoms green. Inspiration! The yarn's real name is

Blooming Grass

Wait wait wait. Another version of my name: Purple Waves of Grain

Oh so pretty!

I'd rename it Purple People Eater

I hope there is someone else who is old enough to recognize this.

These are the pre-sunrise colors I see. So, Ozark Dawn is the perfect name.

Iridescent pavement after rain. Yes, I know it's oil slick or something that makes it that way, but I love the colors of the iridescent.

It looks like an Apache Plume to me... or a privet.

Beautiful colors! (Email address on profile/sicilianbuttercup on Ravelry)

That is great looking yarn. I'd call it Purple Prose.

I am happy to rename this yarn "Woodland Garden", though I love your slip, calling it Purple Irish, since green is the normal 'color of the Irish'.

It's clearly Mardi Gras. That was my initial response: "Oh, look! Mardi Gras yarn!"

So what else would a Louisiana gal say? :-)

the yarn to me looks like a beautiful cluster of grapes purple and green grapes so i will call it "grapes of wrath" or wrap wich ever you perfer. lesley
These colors also remind me of The Joker from Batman - gree hair, purple suit. But, i digress my suggestion for a name is

Mint Tulip and Grape Julep

Ahh...that's lovely!

I would say Plum Gorgeous or Plum Lovely, or some other play on Plum as a fruit (and the color of your yarn) and also meaning "simply" or "totally"
