2016 Monday Meme Number #7

(My Denver Bronco fingerless for my sister, half done.  I have the other to knit today.....)

Okay, Here's MY Monday Meme Number 7.  Enjoy it!  Feel Free to play along if you wish.

#1 Write on the pattern you are using or keep it clean as a whistle?

(I write all over them.  If I use it more than once I use a different color ink)

#2 Trick for Keeping track of a plain round or a complicated round?
(I use a photo or a piece of paper that is plain on one side and not on the other.  When I'm doing a plain row I flip it to the plain side, when I'm knitting a busy row I flip it to the photo side.  Yes I do forget what I'm doing that easily!)

#3 You've decided you cannot stand the yarn you are working with......
you : Carry on.  You liked it enough to buy it after all
or Put it in the donation pile, feeling a bit guilty that someone is getting yarn you don't even like.  Or return it.

(I'm quick to dump it in the WHY in the World pile.  I cannot stand to waste yarn, so it may morph into a pompom someday. There's a certain joy in cutting up bad yarn.....)

#4 What is your current favorite television show to knit during?

(This is a silly question.  I'll knit to anything.  What I most love to watch, however, for today, is the WESTMINSTER DOG SHOW!   I know, I don't even have a dog....but I just love that show. I know it is as political as any other big contest.  Why else do all those funny looking poodles win?)

#5 How do you like your coffee?

(I need flavored creamer of any kind in mine.  I need sugar too. )

#6 How many pairs of hand knitted socks do you rotate wearing currently?
(I currently have 10 pairs of socks for just me. C'mon it is very cold in Chicago right now.  This is SOCK season!)

#7 You are taking a road trip.  Do you listen to the local radio stations on the way or your own music?

(Both.  We once heard a rodeo being broadcasted on Wyoming's radio station....(shout out to Nancy).  It was fascinating to listen to the call, but not as fun as watching on TV)

#8 Do you bring your own grocery bags to the store?
(I almost always forget the ones sitting right in my car for that very purpose)

#9 What wildlife have you seen that is considered rare?

(I saw Fisher cat in Door County.  I've seen black bears but they aren't rare.  They certainly are exciting....)

#10 Someone just gave your family plane tickets to anywhere in the US for next week.  Where will you take them ?

(Yellowstone in the winter would be at the top of my list or San Fransisco if Ellen could play with us while we were there!)  Never been to either place.

Happy Monday bloggy pals.

1. I make a copy and then write all over it. Highlighters are a must.
2. I use those little orange and green plastic Clover clips that look like pins to mark rows that I need to know about. You can't have enough of those.
3. Toss it in the naughty stash. I hate terrible yarn and boy do I have a lot of it.
4. Netflix for me. The Gilmore Girls and Jane the Virgin every night right now.
5. Black but my tummy makes me add a lot of soymilk these days. :(
6. I have about a million pairs of socks but I am lazy and only pull from the front of the bin so I end up wearing the same ones over and over. I need to stop doing that.
7. Alone:I have to sing to CD soundtracks: Wicked, Les Miz etc.-with The Mister: we talk. It's the only time we are in the same place at the same time.
8. We used to bring them but now we need the plastic bags thanks to Pup. :(
9. We've got bald eagles. I'm scared to death they will eat my cats and little dogs. They are HUGE.
10. Oh, man. Good question...we got a foot of unexpected snow this morning with ice on the way so I'm packing up and taking everyone back to DISNEY WORLD. I LOVED IT!!!! I really want to see the new Star Wars park. I have a mad, old lady crush on Kylo Ren (!).
Happy President's Day!

Hi Kathy! Love your fingerless mitts - such pretty colors...I'm not a sports fan, so I don't care what team they are for. Another fun Meme --
1. I usually photocopy pages to write on - especially lace charts, then I can highlight them and then trash the pages but still have a pattern I can use again.
2. No trick...I just make notes on a scrap of paper -- counting rows that way instead of using a row counter.
3. Stop what I'm knitting, but hold onto the yarn forever...then in a cleaning frenzy donate all the stuff I cannot stand. For some reason I am unable to get rid of it immediately.
4. I don't watch much TV, and with lace knitting (shawl) or sox (which are so new to me) I have to pay attention or really screw it all up. But, if I were just doing plain knitting I'd watch Masterpiece Theatre or Antiques Roadshow or Tree House Masters (my husband got me hooked a little on that last one -- very cool stuff).
5. Coffee: frothed milk and a little sweetener.
6. Ha! So far I only have completed one pair (and one pair of boot cuffs). But I'm almost done my second pair.
7. Usually our own music (sometimes hard to get a radio station when you are in the middle of nowhere in a camper)
8. Yup - almost always use my own bags.
9. Nothing rare, unfortunately.
10. Ah! Would love Yellowstone in the Winter...or Santa Fe.

I write all over them.

#2 Trick for Keeping track of a plain round or a complicated round?

I don't have a trick. I just hope that I keep it all straight in my head...and do a LOT of counting!

#3 You've decided you cannot stand the yarn you are working with......
you : Carry on. You liked it enough to buy it after all

I put it in the donation bag. Life is too short to knit with something you hate.

#4 What is your current favorite television show to knit during?

I knit during any television show.

#5 How do you like your coffee?

I can't stand coffee. I drink tea or diet pepsi or coke.

#6 How many pairs of hand knitted socks do you rotate wearing currently?

Believe it or not, I don't have any hand knitted socks. I've given them all away!

#7 You are taking a road trip. Do you listen to the local radio stations on the way or your own music?

I listen to Sirius radio in my car.

#8 Do you bring your own grocery bags to the store?

I invariably leave them sitting in the back of my car.

#9 What wildlife have you seen that is considered rare?

Moose and bears. Oh and a cougar or mountain lion by our camper. Once we woke up in the Black Hills with a buffalo about 3 feet from our camper door. We stayed inside until he decided to leave.

#10 Someone just gave your family plane tickets to anywhere in the US for next week. Where will you take them ?

Hawaii.

Your mitts are wonderful!!
1. I write all over patterns and later can't figure out what I was trying to tell myself.
2. I wish I had used your method on the last scarf I knit. It was a mess when I frogged it!
3. I carry on--I'm stubborn that way. BUT I never buy that yarn again.
4. NCIS--it makes me knit faster.

7. I listen to my own music or an audiobook.
8. Yes, always bring my own bags.
9. We had 3 coyotes in the field behind our house two nights ago. Now I can't let the pups out in the back yard alone until animal control says they have been "neutralized" (their word and I didn't ask).
10. Free plane tickets? I would be in Chicago on the next flight!

Love those mitts. Did you mention the yarn? Your places choices are great, but what about Seattle? Even though I complain a lot about the rain, there is lots to see ala Caffeine Girl's current post...... And guess who's heading off soon for some sunshine?

I am going to forget all the questions, I write on every pattern and use different ink the next time I use it, No coffee for me, I watch everything while I knit and listen to audiobooks too. I never take in a bag to the store as I always forget, but I do recyclable the ones I get.
Hugs,

All I can manage on a Monday are some random answers: I also copy patterns and write on those. If I'm listening to anything in the car, it's usually NPR. I brew up Peet's coffee in the morning (Mocha Java) and drink it with a good shot of Half'n'Half. I am knitting to Netflix's Grace and Frankie -- and loving it!
1. I use knit companion on my phone or my chrome book for my patterns
2. Stitch markers
3. I say a few stern words over it and put it in a time out
4. Downton Abby and Grace and Frankie. It's hysterical!
5, I like a tiny bit of coffee in my cream
6. Tons I love to knit socks
7. The GPS or I'll get lost
8. No I should be so organized
9. Lots of big red hawks
10. The Red Wood Forest

Stitch markers and such.
I will rip it out, try it with something else and then give it away if I can't use it!

I don't like coffee or tea....I sip raspberry Crystal Light
I have two dozen socks...I wear them all!

Oh I love your Memes and today I get a special shout out too!!
1. Write on/Write off: I seem to change my method depending on the pattern, but I've noticed that I like to make a copy (just in case!!) and I also prefer to write on colorful post-its. If I write on the pattern, I'm with Araignee and like a highlighter.
2. Tricky Rounds: Still with the colorful post-its.
3. Eww Yarn: Oh I frog and hold or donate. I don't keep the things I need for a proper return/exchange.
4. What to watch?: I'm like you Kathy, I can knit to almost anything depending on what I'm knitting. I like movies but hands down my most favorite thing are the PBS Mysteries. I'm rewatching Inspector Lewis right now. I just finished Ramblin' Boy and it was fantastic.
5. Oooo, Coffee, I wan t a cup just typing the word, I like it like a warm hug, with cream and sugar. Milk is fine but not skim milk, it makes me sad.
6. I rotate my handknit socks based on the season. What? I like festive socks? I'm wearing just one right now. The ones that remind me of chocolate Non pareils. Granted we are the opposite of Chicago right now, and just had a day of 73 degrees ... i KNOW! crazypants.
7. Road Trip Music. We dabble in the locale and we bring our own and when the kid was smaller I'd read aloud and we'd Harry Potter audiobook.
8. For planned grocery trips yes, I pretty much always have at least one fold up bag in my purse. I often will have to buy another bag, because 2 seems too much to keep in my purse. I use the paper bags for my in apartment compost bin instead of plastic. It's not pretty, but I notice we seem to take it downstairs with more frequency and the bag can be put into the compost (our city has compost bins in all buildings) and I don't have to perpetually wash out a plastic container.
9. A sea otter at Monterey Bay but out in the bay not the aquarium? Hmm. Is my city girl showing? ha!
10. I am going to stick to the parameters of the questions since it's NEXT Week which means it's cold in a lot of places I would normally want to go and I can't afford to buy a bunch of new clothes. I'm going to go with Nancy and say Hawaii. I'd go to the Big Island because it's amazing and prehistoric feeling. However I've never been to Maui ...

However I sincerely hope that one day you get a chance to come out to San Francisco. I would make you walk and eat and look at the bay and/or the ocean. We'd find a spot or two from the Golden Gate Park to the Embarcadero to Aquatic park to knit a bit. Oh the things we could do! Please, please let me know if you do come out this way.

By the way I still have an Auntie out your way, so who knows ... maybe one day I will come to you!
