Gifts from Alaska

Big surprise in the mail this morning.  A box of goodies from Haines, Alaska.
The Dipper Kitchen's honey, pine salt and jelly awaited me.

I had no idea it was coming.  Al's pal Karen moved to Alaska a few years back.  She writes for a newspaper there.
I"ve since subscribed to the paper to read her articles.

Karen sat in my kitchen many a school night with Allison.
They are crazy kindred spirits.
Karen never studied, has a photographic memory and graduated with top honors.

The card she enclosed took Fireman's breath away.
I think we are going to plan a trip to Alaska.

There used to be a yarn by classic elite called
ALASKA, but it has been discontinued

There is a yarn store called
Far North Yarn Company in Alaska.
Their site shows these gorgeous Christmas stockings:
AFNYC.com is their site.

They have a sister sight for the Far North German Shepard
Kennel that has amazing dog images.

Have you been to Alaska?
THANK you so much Karen for thinking of me.

So, what does Fireweed Jelly taste like? Sounds very interesting.

I have not been to Alaska, but I have a friend that lived there for over 30 years (Anchorage). She loved it.

Some day maybe ----
Alaska on my list of places to go - but when I'll get there, I do not know!

I've been to the Anchorage airport, but I wouldn't consider that being "in" Alaska.

Your treats look yummy.

My sisters and their husbands went to Alaska several years ago (land tour and cruise). They loved both methods of seeing Alaska.

I wish I could print that picture of Alaska large enough to wrap myself in it. It is so hot here today that nothing seems to help. I ran out at noon today. It was 90 when I left and 94 when I came back a half hour later. I don't even want to know what the temp is right now. Alaska here I come!

If you do get a chance to go to Alaska please take it.

I went almost 10 yrs ago with my father. We went on a cruise on the inside passage that left out of San Francisco. It was for 15 days. We then spent time in San Francisco (as that is where my mother's family was from and where my parents state --They courted--I have been quite a few times to SF).

My mother wanted to go but she also wanted to help my sister who had recently adopted at that time and my sister was essentially still recovering from cancer and a bone marrow transplant.

I was so fortunate to be able to go. Loved it and my husband wants to go. He went to NYC while I was in Alaska.

We took a small ship cruise about eight years-about 70 passengers. It was incredible. My favorite part was watching a mama bear teach her two cubs how to fish.

I have several friends who have taken a cruise to Alaska and LOVED it. I also have a few friends who have driven the Alaskan highway to go camping/fishing. They all have enjoyed the adventure and scenery.

I want to go see the Northern Lights in Fairbanks. They even have a tour. It's on the bucket list as number one.
