I know for sure that some needles aren't the same size: some very old size six are marked 4.25mm and the newer ones 4.00mm, so might it be the needles rather than the sizer?Judy S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05591607125583963544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8588167.post-50839071142538793122013-07-01T10:23:56.318-05:002013-07-01T10:23:56.318-05:00A friend of mine who use to own a yarn shop was gi...A friend of mine who use to own a yarn shop was gifted with a huge amount of circular knitting needles from a former customer. The stash included needles that also belonged to the customer's mother who use to knit for clothing shops in New York City. These women were serious knitters. I had a pittance compared to them and my friend told me one day to come and help myself to whatever I was lacking, to build my needle supply. To make a long story short, I was grateful, but what a headache sorting and sizing those things. I also suspected that all needles were not what they should be. Thank goodness I was using just 1 needle sizer or I would have surely ripped out my hair! Thank you though for confirming this, so I am not crazy after all. I guess gauge does become more important than ever. The watermelon yarn may be busy, but for socks it works, if you're not using a fancy stitch. The little kitty is so darned cute.
