Looking and Listening

The tiger lilies are generations old.  Yet, they still come back and bloom.  I caught this shot at dusk and so it is blurred.  I didn't want to use a flash.  So don't adjust your screen or put on your glasses.....it's just blurred that's all.

My current WIP : Sally's Slippers by Renate Haeckler. Free on Ravelry

Sally's Slippers have this cute top and interesting geometric construction.  I have to admit I was muddled with math as I tried to figure out how to make my size.

(Ravelry photo ahem..not mine)

I actually knit a guage swatch, and felted it.  My square shrunk 1/2 inch.   Allison predicts this is the doom of sizing.  She says just wing it and it'll work.

If it felts too small, nobody gets hurt. I swear.  They will be cute enough to give away.  I really wanted to see if the yarn I was using from ancient stash would indeed felt.  Indeed it did.

My goal for today is to be the best listener I can be.
I may have to pin my tongue to my lip to succeed but I am determined.
That or wear a piece of duct tape over my mouth.

I'm finding that keeping my opinions to myself can be a gift to others.
and to me!

I am so with on that mouth thing. I've wished many times recently that I had just kept it shut.

Oh my! Use the duct tape. A pin sounds way too painful! LOL

I'm finally learning that I don't have to have an opinion on EVERYTHING! Or, if I do.....not everybody needs to hear about it. But, boy ---------sometimes it is just HARD to keep my mouth shut!

Maybe I need some duct tape too. I think I should buy some of that FANCY duct tape they have at the craft store.

Cute slippers! I haven't knit slippers in years. . .

May I borrow your roll of duct tape?

I love the lily* ; the sunset is a good match!
I have the pattern to knit these slippers, too, but never made them.
However, I did knit quite a few pairs of big Lopi yarn slippers and felted them-they turned out okay! Have fun with your knitting/felting project-they will fit someone is right!

*I just posted a pic of my tiger lily!
Being a listener is a real skill, so keep practising, but don't worry if you don't get it right, nothing wrong with saying what you think either!

The lilies here are gorgeous too, and that sunset... wow!

Gauge + math = issues for almost every knitter everywhere.
