A Very Good Story

This photo MEME is from Pinterest. I LOVE it. I don't know who gets the credit, but I love it.

Need anything?  You bet we did......but it wasn't yarn

-Our beloved Honda Rhonda, who is 18 years old, crapped out on Zach and his friend last night in Chicago.
All good.  It happened during Puerto Rican fest and the car refused to move, right in front of a CHICAGO FIRE station.
Some nice motorcycle guys pushed them into the fire house parking lot.
-Chicago is so ALIVE at night. I've never really stayed in the city at night other than the immediate downtown area near Lakeshore Drive.  We went to get them after 11 pm and the city was absolutely electric.   So many people under  35 I'd say, out about, waiting to get into bars in lines, walking on a warm night, headed to or from a festival on bike or foot.(  Don't these people want to sleep? )
It was amazing to me to see the car traffic, the foot traffic the bike traffic.  Everyone having a nice time.  Many cars and trucks with ENORMOUS Puerto Rican flags riding down the street joyfully.
We have many issues of violence in Chicago and it is so sad.  Last night, though, between Bucktown and Humboldt park, we had a good experience.
- Once Fireman and I arrived, Fireman talked to the firemen and the brotherhood kicked in.  We were allowed to leave the broken honda there overnight.  Safe from towing.  We tried to get a tow truck, but there was a many hour wait last night.
-Early this morning we went back down to the Firehouse, with Donuts and Several pounds of Dunkin Ground coffee for the crew.  They asked us in to have breakfast with them at the  firehouse. Honest to God.   It was very hot out, but we declined.  It is their HOME and we didn't want to intrude.  (They told Fireman they  had 21 calls during the night last night out of their station) (And to be honest, if he had looked like Kurt Russell I would have busted that brunch up big time and shamelessly sat at their table) but, I digress...
Soon enough the tow truck arrived.
-Rhonda's back home.  It all ended well.  She may be broken but she aint dead yet.
-There was so much good in humanity this weekend for us.

Stay hopeful.  Good prevails.
See you tomorrow of our question day!

I needed this uplifting post. After watching the news, I become negative about the situation in our country, and I needed to read this to see it's not all doom and gloom.

I'm thrilled that Rhinda can be repaired.

What a nice group of firefighters! Hope Honda Rhonda is able to be fixed up.

But, then I don't think I've ever met a firefighter that wasn't nice. (My dad and Steve were BOTH firefighters back in North Hills.)

What a story! So sorry about Rhonda. My 14 year old Mini is on her last legs and has broken down several times. Once during rush hour on the Beltway in the center lane in the rain! Like your experience, everyone who came to my aid was so nice. It's good to remember there are still kind people in the world.
Thank you for the uplifting post! I've been struggling with all the upsetting and sad news of late. I can't even find my words to post on my own blog.

The fireman fellowship never ceases to amaze me! Everywhere we go fireman son is drawn to the fire stations and the friendship of other men and women who run into blazing buildings or just plain save lives on the street. They are a breed apart--none like them. What a happy coincidence that Rhonda was taken in by such a group for the night. Hope she is back among the running for many more years!

Cute kitties. They can order yarn for me anytime.

That is a great story, I love how people being helpful can make or break your day. Love that your boy is safe. And yes Chicago is young and vibrant, I haven't been for a few years but I love it there.
Hugs,
Meredith

Great story about Chicago...many summer days spent there during my childhood, a l-o-o-n-g time ago! Norman is from Chicago, too.
Glad you got you kiddo home safely.
Cheers~
