Now for the Monday Meme:

* Do you follow any blogs that are not knit or crochet blogs?

*Do you wind your yarn into cakes or balls?

*What is the longest stretch you can recall not knitting?

*Do you bake or buy birthday cakes?

*Do you drink water every day?

*Have you given up on knitting a certain garment?

*For the terrifying question there are several parts:
Have you ever been:
stuck in an elevator?

lost on a hike?

run out of gas?

needed to have an emergency landing..??

************************

That's it for today!  See you in the answers!!
Can't wait!

Here's mine:

* I follow knit and crochet blogs almost exclusively.
There are so many in my daily reads, I can't imagine adding another blog theme to my reads.  Also there is nothing better than your/our blogs!

*I wind my yarn into a ball.  I like One direction.
No tangles. The cakes are so pretty but I get kooky when the tail sneaks out in a cake.

*The longest stretch not knitting since 2001, was about 6 months when I was in a serious Depression. The second time I was depressed I forced myself to knit a bit every day. Now for the life of me I can't recall what I was knitting but it was a real no brainer.

*I buy Birthday cakes.
If you have read this blog for any length you know I cannot bake worth salt or cake or whatever.  We live near some amazing bakeries in this Chicago area.

*Do you drink water every day?
Heck no.  But I know I should.
I like mine with Ice.

*Have you given up knitting a certain garment?
For right now, and I reserve the right to change my knit mind at whim of course, I'm done with shawls.

*I've never been stuck in an elevator, but I used to plan to sleep if it happened at work.  I was so tired on night shift I almost wished the elevator would get stuck so I could just lay down on the dirty hospital carpet and sleep until I was ..rescued.

I've gotten turned around on innocent hikes.
Never on a serious kind of National Park hike.
I have a big old set of lungs and we are so populated here that someone would hear me no doubt.

I've never run out of gas.

and Thank The Lord I've never been on an airplane that had to have an emergency landing.   I didn't fly for so long that that probably skews my answer too!!

Have you?

Happy Monday Kathy! Thanks for another fun meme.

1. Mostly knitting blogs, but some food-related ones and some stitching ones. Many of the stitching ones I was following prior to taking up knitting (again), are no longer posting. I miss them.
2. A little of both, but more cakes these days. Hubby got me a swift at Christmas and I love using that with my ball winder. It is FAST!
3. Oh wow, I knit (barely) as a teenager, then stopped. When my son was born I took some lessons and knit him a few sweaters (which he refused to wear most of the time). Then I stopped for maybe 15-20 years. So glad I picked it up again.
4. I bake them. I love to bake and we are short on bakeries in my neighborhood anyway.
5. I try to, but am not always successful.
6. Yes…but I may start again. Another sweater for my son (now adult size instead of toddler size. Started when Hurricane Sandy hit and my office was closed. Back is done. Front done up to the shoulders. Still need sleeves…..
7. No stuck elevators thank goodness! Been confused on hikes and disagreed loudly with my husband on which direction to go – he is almost always correct. Have not run out of gas and again, thank goodness, no emergency landings. Whew!

* Do you follow any blogs that are not knit or crochet blogs? YES, I LIKE "LIFESTYLE" BLOGS.. ABOUT A PERSON AND ALL THEIR LIFE STORIES.
*Do you wind your yarn into cakes or balls? ONLY THOSE THAT ARE IN SKEINS THAT NEED WOUND.
*What is the longest stretch you can recall not knitting? I DON'T KNIT ALL THAT MUCH, MORE CROCHET.. DO YOU STILL LOVE ME? :-)
*Do you bake or buy birthday cakes? TRY TO BAKE THEM.
*Do you drink water every day? I HAVE A THERMAL MUG OF ICE WATER BY ME AT ALL TIMES.
*Have you given up on knitting a certain garment? MY HITCHHIKER IS ON INDEFINITE SIDELINE..
*For the terrifying question there are several parts:
Have you ever been: stuck in an elevator? NOT IN MEMORY.. BUT I'M OLD.
lost on a hike? NOT MUCH OF A HIKER.
run out of gas? YEP.
needed to have an emergency landing..?? ONE TIME COULD NOT LAND DUE TO WEATHER AND WAS CIRCLING FOR HOURS.

* Do you follow any blogs that are not knit or crochet blogs?

*Do you wind your yarn into cakes or balls? Only if it is in a skein that isn't a pull skein. (Like the fancy yarn in yarn shops.). Ha!

*What is the longest stretch you can recall not knitting? I've crocheted since I was seven years old and knitted for about 12 years now. I can't remember ever taking a break from either of them.

*Do you bake or buy birthday cakes? Bake. Always. I love to bake so I take any opportunity when there will be other people to help me eat whatever it is so I don't eat it all. Because I would. Eat it ALL. I have a major sweet tooth.

*Do you drink water every day? Yes. But not as much as I probably should. I love ice tea and Diet Coke or Pepsi.

*Have you given up on knitting a certain garment? I don't remember it if I did. That's not to say I haven't frogged things and started over when I found glaring mistakes

*For the terrifying question there are several parts:
Have you ever been:
stuck in an elevator? No

lost on a hike? No

run out of gas? No. I'm rather crazy about this. Rarely let my tank get below 1/2 full.

needed to have an emergency landing..?? Yes, a couple of times. I think I'm a jinx on a plane.

I forgot to answer the first question. Yes, I do follow blogs other than knitting and crocheting blogs. I love meeting new people and making new friends. And I have made some wonderful friends through blogging.
Blessings,
Betsy

Do you follow any blogs that are not knit or crochet blogs? Several

*Do you wind your yarn into cakes or balls? just the skeins into cakes ever since I got a swift and winder.

*What is the longest stretch you can recall not knitting? Didn't have much time to knit when the kids were growing up and I was working.

*Do you bake or buy birthday cakes? Bake but just one special recipe: Cocola Cake!

*Do you drink water every day? Some but not as much as I probably should

*Have you given up on knitting a certain garment?

*For the terrifying question there are several parts:
Have you ever been:
stuck in an elevator? Yep, at a reading conference; the emergency phone worked but not for the lady who had a lunch date

lost on a hike? No, but once we had to hike in twilight which was hard as we weren't prepared with a flash light.

run out of gas? Only once-we were on the way to ORD from Milwaukee to catch the only flight that day to MPLS, but we DID make it. Didn't need any coffee for a week though!

needed to have an emergency landing..?? Yes, with no brakes and we landed in Denver where DH says the runway is very long; we all survived, but missed our connections, and have never flown that airline since.

1. I don't really follow any other blogs other than knitting and crocheting ones, but I do follow one that's about her mum life and the godparents of my girls who are teachers. I'm so behind though on their podcasts b/c I got addicted to video ones.
2. Cakes but last night for example, I had to handwind three skeins with my nostepinne: 128 + 128 + 480 = how many yards?
3. I bake for one of the crew's birthdays; we have yet to find a great bakery around here.
4. Yes; drinking water can be such a freakin' chore. I try to drink at least 60 oz a day.
5. I did frog a shawl and an infinity scarf earlier this year but I'm am sticking to my Idlewood which I love.
6. No to these terrifying situations. My brother and SIL had a harrowing experience on some crazy mountain in Yosemite; I don't know if their blog is still up.
I am anal about my gas tank after before with my Honda and a steep, Chinatown hill I couldn't start up my car b/c of the tilt and the amount of gas left that couldn't touch something to make that necessary spark. So I would usually fill up my gas tank when it was on the last bar. Now with my Prius, there is a beep and a flashing bar to let me know I need gas but I still have 3 gallons left.
You cracked me up about wanting to get stuck in the elevator so you could nap. I don't blame you. I have two friends who are nurses.

Answers are on my blog.

Love your answers. I can't imagine sleeping in the elevator, but I guess if you are that tired any place will do just fine. LOL
Great socks - I'll blog this for tomorrow.

I was stuck in an elevator for just over an hour. Not pleasant at all...
I always wind my yarn into a cake, always bake my own cakes, knit always and whatever I want, I ran out of gas once, in pouring rain with a carload of kids-a good Samaritan helped me!

1. I follow mostly dog blogs, but many of my dog friends also knit. I also follow sewing and cross stitch blogs and any others that I find interesting.
2. Balls
3.I learned to knit when I was five. In my early teen years I didn't knit much but started again in my later teens.
4.Both
5.No. When I was in Russia I picked up cyrptospiridiosis from drinking the water. Now water from some sources makes me ill again, so I avoid it unless it's boiled.
6.Yes, I no longer knit socks. Been there, done that. Exception is Christmas stockings.
7.I've been stuck in an elevator and run out of gas.
