Babushka Weather

 Hello Snow!
Thanks to Twitter I will be careful going out my door this morning.
I read it is a sheet of ice.
I love Twitter for it's immediacy.
Much better.  I found Emily's Yarn Miracle keychain wee tiny sock pattern.  Basically I went from 24 total stitches to 20 and now I have a perfect sized key chain sock in the koigu leftover blues.
The others will be gift ornaments for a knitter's Christmas tree in 2016.

More keychain sock knitting today.
Oh I love using up leftover sock yarn tidbits.

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE a good Babushka.
Grace sent me this one years ago.
It's my favorite.
We Hungarian folk love a good BABUSHKA.
So that's one good thing about the crazy snowy cold windy April weather in Chicago...
it's Babushka weather.
Wear it ladies!
Wear it well!

Mother Nature is certainly thumbing her nose at us this weekend. Rain, then snow, now WIND. I am so over it.

Oh my goodness! Snow! And here we are, sitting outside in tank tops and sundresses. It's 83°! Love your little sock keychains. Any knitter would be proud to have one of those. I have lots of sock yarn bits and pieces left too. I think I may try to make another sock yarn blanket with them. Stay warm and safe my friend.
Blessings,
Betsy

Sorry about your winter blast.. we are at 70 deg. and warm and dry outside. I just brought in an armful of lilacs and made a bouquet for the dining table. Happy happy.. joy joy! I hope your spring comes soon! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I haven't heard the word "babuska" in years. Thanks for the memories of my mom slipping one on her head before heading out on windy days.

You put a positive spin on it, but I still think this weather stinks! Cold, snowy, rainy in April. Not fair!

I'm of polish decent so I grew up wearing babushkas because gram made me, I didn't like it much. We had snow but a mere dusting that melted quickly.
We're getting that snow now! :(

Hehe, okay we used to call my gramma Natawa Babushka. She was my grandmother's mother and she was really really sweet to all of us kids. I remember visiting her in the home back in Chicago and she was always so smiley just grateful to see us towards the end of her life. Her eyes sparkled from behind her hornrimmed glasses, much like my grandmothers too. sigh. Long ago memories. I sometimes wonder if they are memories or imagined.

Anyhow, I love the little sock keychains and ornaments! I think they are cute and a great GREAT holiday idea. I will put it on the holiday knitting list. Don't let me forget!

xoxo
