Holy Hill

Last summer Judy and her daughter visited me.
Judy brought me fun sock yarn.
I don't know why it has taken me so long, but I finally knit up a sock with it.
Such fun colors for a very dreary week here.

I leave a stitch marker in the spot where I started my toe decreases so I can be pretty close to matching when I start the second sock toe decreases.
Fireman and I visited Holy Hill yesterday in Wisconsin.
This gorgeous church sits on Wisconsin's highest point.
Oops, Fireman just told me that is not true.
The highest point in Wisconsin is Timms Hill.
For all you Jeopardy want to be folk....

Even on a dismal day, the view from the church is pretty spectacular.
We want to go back when the leaves are on the trees.

Seemed a good day for some extra Prayers for this world.
Be safe all of you who are traveling.
Let's focus on all the good in this World.

Beautiful stained glass window.

Isn't Judy so sweet. I'm going to get to see her in just a few weeks! :-) The sock from her yarn is very cheery!
Beautiful sock. Beautiful Church.

Cheerful colors for a sock! I use a marker at the start of the toe, too. Great minds think alike, huh?

Prayer is a strong force against evil - the church you visited looks like a peaceful place to mediate, pray, and read the Bible.

Good Morning Kathy,
Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. I agree that more prayer is needed in the world right now. What inexplicable horror those poor people must have gone through yesterday. My heart aches for the world our grandchildren are growing up in.

The church is beautiful and I love the story of the vestments. So interesting to learn facts like that.

Now why did I never think to use a stitch marker to mark the starting point for toe decreases. I always use the guessing method and so I'm rarely satisfied with the way they turn out. Thank you! Thank you! For sharing this tip. The simple things ARE the best. :-)

Have a lovely afternoon,
Blessings,
Betsy

LOVE that sock! The church is just beautiful-so peaceful and serene. I have to say yesterday's attack hit me hard. I just sat down and cried. My kids all fly and take subways regularly and I am so sick and tired of worrying.

You know more about Wisconsin than I do, I think. I had not heard of Holy Hill. It is gorgeous.
The attacks in Brussels (a city I love!)are heartbreaking. It is impossible for me to understand how people can be so ruthless against other people. It makes me feel a bit relieved that my daughter no longer lives in DC, but my brother and his family do -- and I worry about them.

Yes, you said it in the last paragraph. It's interesting how that sock yarn knitted up, especially the lime green section.
A beautiful church and a great sock! An unusual combination, but both good things so that is good isn't it. Enjoy the second sock and then wearing them! xx

That is gorgeous sock yarn. How nice that you two went on a jaunt.. gorgeous window in that church. I'm with you.. hoping the good people outweigh the bad ones. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
We had a few very scary moments yesterday as number two son was on a business trip very near where the attacks took place. We were very relieved when we finaly made contact with him. Thank goodness he was fine and was able to fly home this evening. My heart goes out to those who were not as fortunate.

This world needs more prayers, that's for sure. We have many fond memories of time spent in Brussels. This made me sad, too. Glad you were able to use the sock yarn! One down, one to go, right? Loved the photo from Holy Hill.

The world needs to focus on the good. Lovely sock Kathy. I have never thought about placing stitchmarkers at keypoints in the sock anatomy. I usually chicken scratch numbers down, and then count furiously 85x to make sure they match. I'm doing a Kathy on this pair I'm knitting for sure!
