Charity Begins at Home

* I saw my knit pal Karen yesterday.  She is still making hats for Haiti.  She is nearing her 30th hat.   Great job Karen.
The cotton hats will be so cute on the little ones there who need them.
Charity knitting is something I am so proud to be even a small part of.
I need to work on some more squares for Pine Ridge this weekend.

********
*Epic fail yesterday with dinner.
I tried the recipe that is EVERYWHERE and I figured it must be okay if it is out there so much.
Wrong!
Get the hook!
We made the cauliflower crust pizza.
I'm not just a pizza snob because I live in Chicago.
I'm pretty flexible.
Ugh.
What didn't I like about it?
It was awful that's the biggest part!
I don't like to complain, so look at this as a warning not to waste your precious time.  We laughed.
How good could it be without bread in the crust?
Who was I kidding!

Big wonderful news.
Some of you may remember Beatles' mom Pippa.
I got a message I could not believe from Lynn (who adopted Teddy and Mr Whiskers ) (From the bike kitten group of
Fixie and BOnk and Sprocket and SPinner)
The message was that PIPPA finally finally finally got adopted.
YUP.
Lynn, Im so sorry, but I Was sure you were mistaken when I read the news.
But
Kitty dreams do come true.
She has waited YEARS for this.
I talked to Pippa the other day when  I was volunteering and thought,
No one is ever going to take this cat. She's been here for years.
I'm going to have to just take her home and Fireman will have to live with it.
THen.......someone wonderful came into the shelter and made a careful thoughtful decision and brought Pip home last night.
Now she'll have her own clean laundry to sleep in.
I couldn't be more thrilled.
The Facebook page LIT up on the shelter news.
This is what volunteering for a great shelter means....everyone was over the moon for Pippa.   I could barely go to sleep I was so happy for her.
She's going to have a great life with her new mom who already posted pictures of her adjusting to her forever home.

So happy for Pippa. We've always tried to adopt 'hard to adopt' kitties since we have the time and the space and (generally) the patience. There are so many though!

Your dinner failure is so funny Kathy! I love cauliflower mashed like potatoes but I agree that as a pizza crust, well, NO! I admit that I am a Chicago pizza snob. My two girls-night-out friends love to tell the story of the three of us being thrown out of a pizza joint because I asked the owner if he really considered "this stuff" pizza. I didn't stop there, I asked, "Have you ever been to Chicago? Now that's pizza." I might try sliced cauliflower on my pizza. Then again, NO!

Nice to see the charity knitting/crocheting going on.
There is ONLY one kind of pizza crust!
Very happy adoption news!

Pippa's story just proves that sometimes we have to wait for prayers to be answered. The woman who adopted Pippa felt the tug of all the prayers on her heart when she selected Pippa.

How wonderful for the cat. I'm glad she had a safe and warm home temporarily.

I am so, so, SO happy for Pippa. Every kitty deserves a place of their very own!

As for recipes ---- I found that messing with foods that are standard --- pizza, buffalo wings, cinnamon rolls, etc... should not be messed with and just enjoyed as the calorie bombs that they are!

What great news for Pippa. I would have had to sneak her home too so it was good timing. I've seen that pizza on Pinterest and wondered how good it could be. I made a cheeseless one once with white beans that was pretty terrible. Pizza is perfect. People need to let it be.

Bravo for Pippa! Good job on your friend making so many hats for charity. I did a dozen or so to send to Brazil for poor young mothers living in the mountains. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I love to hear about others knitting/crocheting for charity. There are so many needs in the world but if we all work together we can make a huge difference. So very happy for Pippa, All of our pets have been rescues...they really are the best, Cauliflower pizza just doesn't sound good at all. I like cauliflower, just not for pizza! Blessings,
Betsy
Oh I'm so happy for Pippa! Such wonderful news! As for the cauliflower pizza.....NOT!! LOL! It was an epic fail here as well. It is good roasted or steamed for mashed potatoes though.

Hugs,

How wonderful for Pippa! Dreams do come true, they just take a while sometimes! I am sure that Pippa will be very happy, but the luckiest one of all is her new Mom to have Pippa with her! xx
