Mail Call!

Squeal!  Yesterday's mail included a package from
Valarie's Wandering Cat Studio.
She knows I love cotton and she knows I love to knit socks.
The sock yarn has a cashmere component and it is soft
soft
soft.

Having just seen a feather and fan creation at my Yarn shop's knit night, I cast on a feather and fan in the cotton.

The Socks are marinating with my up next needles.
Val, you know how to warm a girl's heart in the January Chicago winter.  Your generosity is humbling.

I felt compelled to bake something but I didnt' want to eat the goods.
So, I made the house smell magnificent and whipped up some homemade granola.   To keep me from eating it, I added coconut.
There. Not even a tempation now.
Do I know me or what?

Do you have a trick that keeps you in check?

Oh that yarn looks yummy...as does the granola and I love coconut, so I would be munching. No tricks from me, but I find that when I bake cookies or cakes or brownies that by the time they come out of the oven I can't stand the smell of them...so I don't eat. That only lasts a day or so...then it is back to stuffing myself.
Glad you like it! The cotton needed a good home!d I rarely knit with cotton, so I wanted to share it with some one who would love it!
Happy knitting!

Cotton and cashmere sounds like an amazing combination.
Coconut has the opposite effect on me. I LOVE it.

Isn't Valerie just the sweetest thing? I wish I was rich enough to buy out her shop. Their yarn is extraordinary.
Gum keeps me in check. When I get the munchies I go for some bubble gum.

Yarn - yum!

As far as baking - I rarely do it anymore. my husband is diabetic. I love to bake - but it is probably better for both of us that I don't - LOL!

Honestly, brushing my teeth keeps me from eating.

I haven't tried making granola. Yours look good. Nice stash enhancement.

My friends make me granola. Good stuff! So coconut is your kryptonite, eh? Very interesting and tricky ha!

I'm with Vera and the chore of baking usually is deterrent enough for me.

Valerie's yarn gift is fantastic, but I think she's pretty cool beans. Can't wait to see your knits in progress.

Beautiful yarn. What a lovely package to receive. I have no ideas on how to avoid temptation. I love sweets and can't have them in the house or I'll eat them.
Blessings,
Betsy

Wow! That Valerie is one nice person! What a great surprise; it looks like quite a lot of yardage...a vest maybe or? I am with you on the coconut! I don't like it either. Other than that, your granola sounds yummy. I like to put a small amount in yogurt along with fruit for breakfast. Now that I have all the ingredients, I can't find the recipe for the Cranberry Rugalach. ;>(

Beautiful yarn! Have fun knitting up your gift!

I am SO, SO bad with any treats in the house. So, I just make sure there aren't any hanging around. If I have to have something sweet, I have to go out to eat it. That means not too much cheating.

My go to snack is a Wasa bread, hummus and pickled banana peppers. Not exactly cake, but pretty satisfying.

I would be squealing too! That yarn is gorgeous and a feather and fan would be perfect.

I've returned to keeping track of what I eat, I don't like doing it but I get results! I find that late afternoon and early evening I throw caution to the wind and eat junk. I would pick around the coconut to eat that granola :)
