X Rays

So November ended with a bang.
Zach crashed on his skateboard and broke his collar bone.
He crashed late Sunday.
Yesterday, the nurse mom, wanted him to call his doctor and request an xray.
Xray granted: fractured clavicle.
He came out of the radiology dept....(where it was taking forever so I had a hunch either someone came in with a trauma that was delaying everyone else..and rightly so...or he had a fracture and they were making him a dvd for his doctor.)

He came out and said the tech asked when he crashed and he said yesterday.
The Rad Tech told him he has a very high pain tolerance and that is was fractured.  He said he'd need surgery and pins.

Now it is looking like surgery is not going to be needed.
My mom would say he broke his wing.
Zach's a good sport.
He's resting today and headed back to work tomorrow in a sling.

Some of you may recall he was on the skateboard in Mexico when a dog bit him.  I think skateboards and Zach now have a history.
I say never give up.  Try try again!

There was ample knit time in the waiting rooms yesterday.
Cotton scarf is coming along really well.  Glad I put the seams on the sides so it will lay flat and be reversible.
I finished reading this book about an extraordinary ordinary girl.
Very interesting book.
Such a sweet girl and she has changed the world. !

I nearly called of dinner at 5 pm when I was still in the hospital radiology waiting room, but thought... heck who cares when we eat?
I made us a delicious low salt low fat turkey pot pie with our leftovers.
Such comfort food!
So welcome December!
We are ready for you!
Happy Knitting !

Sending lots of good healing thoughts to Zach. That pot pie looks delish - now that I can make a decent pie crust, I'm going to have to try my hand at potpie

Oh dear.. sorry Zach. I hope it heals fast and he suffers no pain. I'm glad you had a project to work on in the waiting room that was easy and not a difficult pattern. Sure helps. Your turkey pot pie looks fab!

So sorry to hear about Zach. A broken collarbone is no fun; Dick did that some years ago, and he'd agree, I am sure. Glad he doesn't need surgery and is taking it easy. Sending good thoughts that he heals quickly. Your book is on our bookclub list for the coming year. Glad to hear it's enjoyable. She is a remarkable young lady, for sure!

Your Zach and my Zak seem to be cut from the same cloth. Mine finished a weekend hockey tournament after a fall that broke several vertebrae.
That turkey pie looks like the best thing ever to me right now. I need pie and I need it now-but not of the pumpkin variety. I'm over it.

Ouch! I hope that "broken wing" mends quickly and Zach is soon flying again. : ) Your scarf is coming along very nicely; can't wait to see it when it's off the needles. Yummy turkey pie!

I broke my collar bone falling off a horse in Costa Rica so I feel Zach's pain. I had to have surgery but the doctors did say the vast majority don't require surgery--I hope his bones grow swiftly and strongly!

Certainly glad surgery is not needed, and I'm sure nurse Mom will make sure he follows doctor's orders.

The Kid is reading that book right now, and he is enjoying it a lot. :)

Your poor boy! They are never to old to worry about, or to break things. Hope he has a speedy recovery.
Hugs to you,

Oh boy your son is a soldier. I hope recovering won't drive him too crazy. Thank goodness for knitting or reading to keep one sane during a vast amount of waiting time. The pot pie looks good. My tween hankers for that now and then.
I hope that all will be well for Zach and that he will soon be able to get back to skateboarding if he wants to risk it again! xx
