Challenges

The shawl in alpaca icy blue is almost half knit.  I'm still loving these lace tipped Karbon needles.
This lace is basic and hardly challenging, but I love the results.

Fireman and I tried PHO recently.
It was a bucket list thing for him.
I lied. He tried Pho, I watched him.
My bucket list food adventures rarely involve much risk.
My idea of a bucket list food experiment is candy.

I have a thing for marshmallows.
I have always been told that homemade marshmallows are so different then store bought.
So I ordered some.

They were (past tense) soft and wonderful.
I won't go so far as to make my own, but if I get the opportunity to purchase fresh again, I surely will.

You all know Meredith's Lil Buddy loves trains.
I took this image just for him yesterday at O'Hare.  I've decided it is a cool crossroads of sorts.
Our "L" is headed underground, and the Jet is taxiing (yes I did have to look up the spelling !) to the gate.

Happy Thursday.
Have you challenged yourself gastronomically speaking?

The knitting is delightful, the plane pic spetacular, I am a sucker for chocolate covered marshmallows!
I'm not much of an eater-more work than reward.

I used to love Pho, but since becoming vegetarian, it's hard to find some I can eat. I am an adventurous eater though, except for "exotic" foods (i.e., octopus, escargot, squirrel).

We made homemade marshmallows once. They were good, but not worth the trouble as far as we were concerned.

I always remember when we lived in Chicago and would go to O'Hare, when suddenly it would get dark in the car and you'd look up and a HUGE plane would be right over you! Fun but weird.

I tend to stick with stuff I know just because I do try to watch calories on don't want to waste them on food I don't like. I did finally try goat at the indian restaurant we go to--mostly because it was a buffet and I could take just a bit. It was fine to try once.

I once ate horse meat at a sake bar in Japan - can't say it was enjoyable, but distinctly memorable.

I have a quite varied palate but there are some things that I will never try.. like raw oysters. NOPE.. huh-uh. And anything they make the people eat on "Survivor". ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I love marshmellows too, but have never tried homemade ones; I'm will to give it a try! However, I'm not very adventurous with food. Love the plane/train photo.

The photo is astounding. And it looks like the Sorting Hat from "Harry Potter" is there, too!

I don't like marshmallows, except for Rice Krispies Treats. At the grocery store the other day, I picked up ingredients to make some, and saw something I had forgotten all about --- toasted coconut-covered marshmallows. My Daddy LOVED coconut, and would eat those things by the bagfull. Those, I can eat.

You mean, all that time in Knoxville, and you never ate goat barbecue? ;)
I am not adventurous when it comes to food - I like what I like and if it looks or smells funny... nope... not doing it!

I've always wanted to try homemade marshmallows too. I watched videos of people making them but it doesn't look more fun than just eating them. The shawl is looking good. I love those needles too. Must. Buy. More!

I love marshmallows, too, although I think I like the cheap store-bought ones the best. But now that I'm on my low-sugar diet, marshmallows are a big no-no for me!

Thought that looked like O'Hare! My big food adventure lately was a hot fudge Sundae with real ice cream. Milk isn't always good with me so I took a lactaid and it tasted great! (And I had NO issues!)

Pho as in the Vietnamese soup? It's delicious. It comes in many varieties....my faves are much like chicken noodle soup.
