Simple Pleasures

I only have two peony bushes.  They are both showing fabulously this week.   I think a bridal bouquet of peonies would be stunning.
This volunteer purple plant is about 2 and a half feet tall.
I think it is a pea plant of some kind.
What do you think?
Fireman is not inclined to think it is a pea as there are no little tendrils on the plant.  Sure looks like a flowering pea to me.
Do you know a perennial pea?
 From Pea to Pie...
I made the cats a toy yesterday out of a Priority Mail box.
I just cut a few holes in the top and put a toy or two inside...within minutes they were entertained.
If you've never lived with a cat, let me tell you what the rest of us know.   They love ordinary objects for toys.
Ping pong balls, Milk jug lids, empty toilet paper rolls,
and brown paper bags.
Please keep Lynn and her cat Nicole in your thoughts.
Lynn reads the blog, knits and adopted two of our fosters Fixie and Bonk a few years ago.  She is the best cat momma.
Her Nicole may have FIP even though she is quite a bit older.
It can lay dormant for a long while.
Just this week Lynn helped find a home for two abandoned cats.
She has a huge heart and its breaking in that way our hearts break when we know it is time ....
Nicole has brought her simple pleasures for many years.

Oddly enough, my latest simple pleasure is crochet washcloths.
I have a lovely pink cotton blend from Al for Mother's Day.
I need some new washcloths and I can gift some as well.
Sometimes crochet is such a great pleasure.

So if anyone wants to ID that plant that looks like a pea to me,
that would be great.

I'm reading a bit too:

*Crocheted Snugglers

*400  Calorie Fix Cookbook
I'm going to try their Oven-baked Fries
using light mayo, panko break crumbs and salt free fajita seasoning.

*Talking to Alzheimer's
a book for those who love someone with the disease

and

(Fireman is reading Mark Kelly and Gabby Giffords book,
ENOUGH)

What are you reading and stitching ???

Beautiful blooms! But I'm no help in identifying them.

Love the pictures of the cats playing with the box. So cute.

Right now one of the books I'm reading is "Murder at Honeychurch Hall" (think that is the right title) - it is just what I need right now! I always have about 20 or more books started at the same time! Yes, I'm nuts! LOL! I've just started cross-stitching again after a two year hiatus. And knitting! I've got about 10 to 15 things going on the needles. Good thing I have a huge collection of needles!

My first cat, Barrymore, loved the plastic band that you peel off milk jugs. Briton's Buddy loves plastic straws.

I'm reading "Fire in the Hole" on my Kindle, and "Affinity" the physical book.

Papilionoideae better known as Sweet Pea. You know, our g-granddaughter's middle name is Sweet Pea. In case you are thinking I just walk around knowing things like that, I confess I looked it up. Why? Because it was an interesting question so I learned something from your post today. Thanks Kathy!

I just finished David Baldacci's Memory Man which I recommend to any mystery lovers.

Wayne says he thinks it is wild blue indigo. It is a good plant so he says don't pull it out.

Cats like to play with crished foil into the ball, take a pipe cleaner and wrap it around a pencil, we call them stickies. Easy for them to carry and to retrieve.

I really appreciate everyone's kind thought for us and Nicole.

I do think it is wild blue indigo. When I google the images, it looks like it.

Stitching on a kitchen towel with a summer theme. Knitting up the yarn that Ellen (the Ellen Report) gifted me and in the spirit of "paying it forward", I'm gifting the socks to my friend Lisa.

Reading: Sing You Home by Jodi Picoult

Could your plant be Baptisia (wild indigo) http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=BAAU

You are right, Papillonidae is a butterfly. This is Papilionoideae (one l, an o after the n and an e on the end) at least that's what Wikipedia is trying to tell me. I like Sweet Pea better! LOL.

Peonies make me think of weddings too. Yours are spectacular.
That purple bloom does look like a pea plant. I have no idea what it is but it is pretty.

I just finished the latest in the #1 Ladies Detective Agency and I am knitting a big yellow pi shawl that is making me happy since we have not seen the sun in a week now. I'm not complaining. After the blistering heat in May, I am loving this cool spell.
That certainly looks likes some sort of pea to me.
My Dad gave me some peonies for my garden but they won't bloom this year. He said I can come and pick some of his for inside the house this weekend

I wish the peonies would last all summer. They are so beautiful with a lovely light fragrance. I am knitting socks for my daughter using Deborah Norville's serenity microfiber as she cannot wear wool. I am reading The Shepherd's Life by James Rebanks about his life in the Lake District in England. A most wonderful book. I am also reading the latest book by Charles Todd. Love your kitty photos.
