Light is Your Best Friend

I had decided to try to knit a gansey mitten on my own.
I frogged it last night.
Back to basics.
(Fyi: I didn't like how the mitten top was going for the decreases)
and I didnt' want to knit the second mitten...
that's a sure sign for me to frog. )

My eye exam went fine.
I'm going to get new readers after I post this.
As I suspected, my vision changed this year.
"Light is your best friend" the optometrist told me.
He's right.
I often, knit and read in too little light.
Fireman likes the lights low while he watches TV.
He likes candlelight on the porch.
Ah, compromise, the Mother of all marriages.

Today is Beatles birthday!
We will celebrate his sweetnesses day.
I may take him out in the yard.

This photo of Pie and Fezzik shows you he's already bigger than Pie.   The great thing is Miss Pie can't see how big he's getting and she's still the boss.

Today's question:
Do you have a favorite machine wash yarn?
I want to vary my mitten knitting and I want them to be machine washable as I'm going to donate most of them.

Thanks! Happy TUESDAY.

How about cotton for the mittens? Fezzick sure is cute! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Three little kittens have lost their mittens...

I don't have a favorite, though I do like to use baby yarns for socks. Most baby yarns can go in the machine.

Hi Kathy, I am trying to get back in the swing of things. I can't believe how big your baby is. I like a cotton blend, it is soft and won't shrink.
Hugs,
Meredith

Are you training Fezzik to wear a harness to be on a leash? He really is adorable.

Oh yes, I need light!! I have a clip on light for my tapestry frame - clips the frame, not me! - and I find that I reach it over and light up my crochet too, it makes the world of difference! xx

Cascade 220 SUPERWASH ---- good basic worsted! :-)

Fezzik is ADORABLE! Happy birthday to Beatles.

Happy birthday Beatles!
Fezzik is getting so big.

I second the Cascade 220 Superwash suggestion. It's a workhorse.

A lot of the I used to be a big fan of superwash sock yarns in worsted and chunky weights. Lorna's Laces is nice - the nearly solids would work for mittens (probably the variegated too - but sometimes the colors pool funny on smaller sized socks). I'm trying to remember what my real favorite is but I can't come up with the name! I'll have to go and dig through my sock yarn stash and see if I can figure it out.

It's been so long since I knit a pair of socks! Maybe that's something I'll have time to pick back up next year...

bummer about the ripping out. All the light in the world doesn't help if it's too tiny to see. I think my eyes got worse again but according to the optometrist it should be slowing down...someone needs to tell my eyes. Love the cat photo!

It's no surprise, but I love our Stray Cat, Fat Cat, and Big Cat (all are machine washable) and I use them for all the baby stuff I make. I don't use much commercial yarn, but I've heard good things about Superwash Cascade 220

Looks like you got some good suggestions...I would agree...and don't have anything else to offer. It seems I'm picking up a different kind/brand/mix of yarn on every project and rarely use the same yarn more than a couple times. That's not helpful. Love the kitty photos!! And good luck on your mittens.

Hmm funny thing is I make a lot of mistakes when I don't wear my glasses or have a light on! Cascade Superwash 220 or Berocco Vintage would be great options for mitts. any Superwash wool should be ok.upu have lovely kitties!

As for leash training Fezzik, I do think I'll try. For now, Beatles is my leash boy. I have thought of bringing Bea to my mother's nursing home. He won't like the car ride, but he would be a sweet visitor.
