Mothers Day Recap

 I was spoiled.
Yarn, LUSH products and  new bicycle seat to cushion my arse.
Our weather was really lousy so that meant one thing:
knitting inside and being waited on.  I highly recommend it.
Zach made my favorite treats: Rice Krispie treats.
The crazy crinkle pants are the perfect thing for Fezzik and Pie to wrestle around in and plan sneak attacks.
He's fitting in earlier than we had anticipated.
We used the baby gate over the weekend to allow them to get a little more used to one another.
Now we are bringing him down for longer and longer play times.
My four finished pairs of mittens were washed and blocked.
I've cast on another.

It is a bit hard to talk about my sweet Mom right now.
If you want to say a prayer for her, I'd appreciate it.
Some of my mom's favorite things:

she loves nuts of any kind
she loves toffee
she loves PEACE at any price
she loves babies
she loved to read
she always said, "To each his own"
and "It takes all kinds in this world"
She is kind and sweet  even as Alzheimers jumbles her mind.
I plan to bring Fezzik to see her when he's ready.
I think he might be a therapy cat.

Did you have a wonderful Mothers Day?

I can see why Pie and Fezzik love the crazy pants - what a clever product!

You really were spoiled - love the yarn! Our street had our monthly get-together/potluck for those who had May birthdays yesterday - so it was nice way to have a great dinner and not to have to do all the work on Mothers Day!
Prayers coming for your Mom and the family - has to be so hard.
The crinkle pants must be lots of fun for kitties.

I so hope that your mom had peace in her heart on Mother's Day. You and she are in my prayers!

You deserve to be spoiled and pampered and it appears that Mother's Day left you just that way.

The mittens are wonderful!

Will send good thoughts your Mom's way.

Fezzik looks like he is enjoying being part of the family! :-)

I know your mom will love snuggling with an adorable kitten.

Oh my thoughts to you and your sweet Mom. I love her sayings, too true.

I showed my family the picture of little Fezzik and a lot of grumpy faces were broken into "Aww" faces at that point.

All the best Kathy

Kathy - Love those crazy pants. I can only imagine how much fun the cats are having with them!

I'll keep you and your mother in my thoughts and prayers. One of the things we learned when my father had Alzheimers was to do all the talking (not hard for me. Ha!) I would just walk down memory lane with him; sing a song; comment on things we saw. As his disease progressed, I had to talk more slowly, or just sit with him and hold his hand. He loved to sing - so sometimes we'd go and just sing the old favorite family songs. When he couldn't sing anymore; or even whistle, he would just tap along to the beat of the music. Hugs to you and your mom!
Sounds like a lovely mother's day!

How lovely to be spoiled on Mother's Day. I can't believe you knitted all those mittens! You'll be all set for gifts.
Such sweet thoughts/memories of your Mom. I know it can't be easy.

I'm glad to hear you had a great Mother's Day. Those kitties are so darn cute.
I was hoping to take the day off and pamper myself but instead I spent the day on the phone with social workers looking for a new placement for Daddio. His behavior is getting him kicked out of a facility once again. Positive thoughts to you and your Mom. I totally get it. Brain diseases are the worst. And....we lost that nephew to cancer yesterday at 1 am. Some Mother's Day for my poor sister in law. Sigh....

Your mother and I like an awful lot of the same things.

"Crunchy pants" --- cute and funny.

"Alive Inside" is a remarkable and inspiring DVD about music and the role it can play for patients with Alzheimer's and dementia. It helped with my sister's treatment. My prayers go out for your mother!

I was recovering from a bad cold so I rested up. I know it is so hard to see your Mom this way. My Mom passed away a year ago and I still see her in my mind like she was right before she dies, I would much rather remember her from years ago.
Hugs to you,
Meredith
