Fringe Questions

 Our forsythia are in bloom.
This means all kinds of things in the natural world like:
-it is time to go bass fishing
-and to prune your roses from winter's  harm
and my personal thoughts;
-and to buy new yarn for summer shawls....
Right?
-

Here is Skydive about 40 inches finished.
I have Katherine to thank for sending me this pattern years ago.
I LOVE IT.
I have decided to add fringe to the ends and I'm a bit worried I won't have enough yarn.
As I recall Fringe eats ups yarn right?
When blocked,
Stop laughing please, I will block this shawl,
it will be a few inches wider and longer.
Help....

I hope you have a sweet day.
It is sunny and 60s here and that's sweet enough for me.

I am crazy about your Skydive shawl!! It is so pretty and the color is gorgeous.

Late in my knitting life I discovered floor blocking. I love it so much that I block hand-washed sweaters on the floor now. I guess I cheat a little because I have a large piece of foam that I made a towel cover for and I throw that down on the floor in the laundry room then block on it.

Don't you just love forsythia? That cheery yellow sure brightens up our grey, cloudy days. Love your shawl! Good job on the lace.

Skydive is looking great! I haven't done any fringe in a while, but I'm a firm believer in blocking the shawls. It will open and bloom more.

Skydive is spectacular!
Fringe does take a lot of yarn. I bought a fringe twister a while back because you always have fringe to deal with when you weave. What a waste of money it was. I used it once. I can twist better by hand.

We used to have forsythia when we lived in Washington state and it really was an announcement that spring had arrived!
Your Skydive is coming right along - love the color and it will be even more pretty with "blocking". You can do it!

I never put fringe on anything, unless someone specifically asks for it. It does take a lot of yarn and a lot of time.

Forsythia is one of my favorites. It makes me sad that it doesn't grow here.

I keep telling Steve that we need to move back north so I can have my spring flowers.

I love the yarn you made the shawl with. It's such a pretty color. Love that stitch too...loose and lacy.

Yes, that fringe is a yarn eater. However, once your shawl has been fringed and blocked, it going to look FABULOUS!

Of course you have to buy more yarn, that is a must in the Spring. YOu can fringe with one strand of that yarn and a ribbon yarn or something else to add a bit of fun.
Hugs,

Love the shawl and your blooms!

I'm not a fan of fringe so I have no experience with how much yarn it takes. You could easily use a contrasting color mixed with the shawl yarn to make sure you have enough for the fringe.
