Time to Cull the Herd

Call it Spring cleaning, although Spring is 4 days away.
I had to cull the yarn herd.
Gave 3 bags of yarn to a local charity last night.
Most of it was leftovers from projects.
I saved all the sock yarn.
This is My Year of the sock, and I had plenty left.
It is nearly 70 outside and I had to go by our town farm to say hello.
The rooster was quiet but brilliant.
We have two new white horses at the farm.
Little children running and playing with some mighty relieved to be out again parents and nannies in tow.
Then to reward myself for culling the herd I bought some Simply Sock yarn Lorna's laces in Dupage.
By the time I finish the green and gold socks the purple should be here.

I love Lorna's Laces sock yarns.
I'm not that big a fan of Socks that Rock.
There has to be a certain level of springiness to my sock yarns.
That makes it easy on my hands and wrists.

Because I'm all about the socks,
bout the socks,
no sweater,
all about the socks.

Happy MONDAY!

Love that purple! I think Lorna's is great and I also like STR. Both have great color choices, IMHO. Looks like spring is headed your way finally; here it's rainy and cool. You are much warmer than here for once!
Hmmm - I think a little yarn cullling wouldn't be a bad idea....

Love the purple Lorna's Laces. Of course purple is my favorite color. I bet the socks will look good with that shading.
I should probably "yarn cull" again. I did it about 2 years ago, but still have some yarns I know I'll never use. The senior center can always use it.

Cheers and congrats on culling the herd. I have tried and have not been very successful. I love the colors in the sock yarn but I'm all about the sweaters these days. I gathered three baby sweater patterns just today and a blanket is in the works--along with the sweater.

Lorna's Laces is sweet yarn for sure!
STR is a very unusual yarn that was hard for me to get used to. It makes a heavy sock but it does come in pretty colors.

Aww gee.. your excitement about sock making almost makes me want to try again.. hmm.. is there a super SOFT yarn for socks? I'll have to haul out the ones I did and take a 2nd look at them. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

That is some mighty pretty yarn! I love Lorna's. I have one skein of Socks That Rock in my stash, but haven't given it a try yet.

Such a soft yarn, both in color and feel. Good choice!

I culled a LOT last Spring, but I need to do it again. Two weeks ago, I gave a large bag of yarn to a crafting friend. I may go through that stash again and find more for her.

Love your new skein of yarn. Happy knitting!

Your spring cleaning is inspiring. Alas, I'm so in the weeds Kathy and overwhelmed with everything. I think I'll have to wait till April, after Easter to get things going out out of the apartment. I'm all about socks this year too!

I think you really nailed it with the sock yarn spring. Quality yarn really allows for that!

Hmmm....I wonder if I let some yarn go if I can buy some more? I am trying to be so good and use up some of my stash, but I just love that purple and I don't knit socks.
Hugs,
Meredith
