Goodbye Dear Friend, Dear Amazing One

Lots and lots of tears.
Today we say goodbye to Rosalyn.
Rosalinda
Rozzy poo
Rozz

We adopted her when she was estimated to be two years old, that was nearly 16 years ago.
This cat, this tabby torti, mix was everything you want in a cat and more.
She loved Huck.
She caught a few mice.
She loved the porch.

We call her Purrbox.
She purred at every vet exam.
She loved Christmas and all the wrapping paper.
Not this year.
She didnt join in at all....

She is very arthritic.
She has kidney disease.
She has chronic herpes which means bloody nasal discharge.
It used to flare, it has been constant for over a year.
She has thyroid issues but they aren't a big deal.
Sometimes she yowls.
She fell behind the radiator in the kitchen this week.
It was painful and hard to get her out.

She has been on Prozac for 8 months.
She started soiling herself in August.
The prozac immediately helped her remember to use the box.
IF you need help with an elderly cat, try prozac.
We had to go up on her dose this month.
She eats and then stands by her bowl and wants to be fed.
Over and over and over.
She got up 5 times during the hockey game the other night to go and eat.

She frequently is picked on by Pie.
We know this is the natural order of things, but it is hard to watch.

After the fall last week we made the call.
My dear Wondervet is coming here soon.
She believes it is important for the other cats to see Rozz once she is gone.

Roz loved a party.
She always came into the room with company.
That is until the last year or so.

So, Go Rozz.  Run to Huck.  You two just loved each other so.

God bless Rozzy and all of you. I know she had a happy, purry life, and what better way to go than knowing in your last seconds that those you love are with you.

Everyone in our house (furry and otherwise) will say a special prayer for Rozzy and for all of you.

Take care. You too, Rozzy.

What a moving tribute! I'm a little misty... Mugsy loved cats too, so perhaps he went with Huck to meet her at the Bridge. oxoxo
Oh - I'm so sorry. (I'm crying as I read this). They certainly steal your heart - and it's so hard to let them go, even when it's the best thing for them. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry that you must make this farewell. She sounds like the perfect cat, lovable and social. I guess all we can do when our cats move on is to be thankful that we had the time with them. You're in my thoughts.

My sympathies! It is so hard to lose a dearly loved pet who is a wonderful family member. I hope your cheerful memories of her loving activities give you many reasons to smile today to ease the tears.
I am so sorry. Hugs to you. xx

I'm very sorry to hear and hope you find comfort in your happy memories.

I am curious about your vet and why she feels it's important for the other cats to see. A blog post on that would be informative.

goodbye to your sweet adorable love. It's always sad to say goodbye to a devoted pet, but I know she was loved and had the best home ever with people she loved and who loved her back.

I'm crying over here too. Not so much for dear, sweat Rosalyn, who is now healthy and pain-free and whole (but misses you terribly). But for all of you who love her.
